Study on deformation of layered rock tunnel based on material point method [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Civil Engineering
The stability problems of layered rock mass are frequently encountered in tunnel and underground engineering. Affected by bedding plane, the mechanical properties of surrounding rock show obvious anisotropy, which makes its failure characteristics more ...

The direct boundary element method: 2D site effects assessment on laterally varying layered media (methodology) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The Direct Boundary Element Method (DBEM) is presented to solve the elastodynamic field equations in 2D, and a complete comprehensive implementation is given. The DBEM is a useful approach to obtain reliable numerical estimates of site effects on seismic

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Effect of layering characteristics on compressive mechanical properties and damage mechanisms of rocks: Experiments and models.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
The investigation of layered rock mechanical properties is important for rock stability analysis. To examine the effects of layer inclination angle (LIA) and layer thickness (LT) on the compressive mechanical properties and damage mechanism of layered ...

Blastability Classification of Fractured Rock Mass Based on Weighted Clustering Analysis

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2017
This paper classifies the blastability of fractured rock mass based on the solid coefficient, rock impedance, unit explosive consumption and mean fracture spacing. Specifically, an evaluation model was established according to the principle of clustering

Buoyancy-driven dispersion in a layered porous rock [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics, 2015
AbstractWe investigate the longitudinal dispersion of a passive tracer by a gravity-driven flow in a porous medium consisting of a series of independent horizontal layers connected to a constant pressure source. We show that in a formation of given vertical extent, the total flux is only weakly dependent on the number of layers, and is very similar to ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
