Gradual Provision of Live Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) Larvae to Older Laying Hens: Effect on Production Performance, Egg Quality, Feather Condition and Behavior

open access: yesAnimals, 2020
Feather pecking is a key welfare challenge in laying hen husbandry. Feeding of live Hermetia illucens larvae could provide a possible solution to reduce feather pecking in hens. This research investigates effects of dispensing live H.

Virginiamycin and Laying Hen Performance

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1985
Two experiments were conducted for five 28-day periods each. In Experiments 1 and 2, Hyline W-36 hens, 36 and 26 weeks of age, respectively, were used. Experiment 1 was designed to measure the effect of virginiamycin on hen performance and egg characteristics when supplementing a diet having low pigmentation potential.

Interpretability and Representability of Commutative Algebra, Algebraic Topology, and Topological Spectral Theory for Real‐World Data

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This article investigates how persistent homology, persistent Laplacians, and persistent commutative algebra reveal complementary geometric, topological, and algebraic invariants or signatures of real‐world data. By analyzing shapes, synthetic complexes, fullerenes, and biomolecules, the article shows how these mathematical frameworks enhance ...

Dual Functions of Dietary Rubber Seed Oil Supplementation: Enriching N‐3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids and Enhancing Antioxidant Capacity in Pekin Ducks

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Dietary RSO supplementation improved growth performance, simultaneously enriched n‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n‐3 PUFA), and enhanced antioxidant capacity in Pekin ducks, which suggested that RSO has the potential to be a novel n‐3 PUFA source and an antioxidant for Pekin ducks to generate animal functional foods.
