TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Who actually wants to use ‘the killer app’? Perceptions of location based services in the young and old [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper describes the results of two qualitative case studies that assessed the perceptions of Location Based Services (LBS) with two UK user groups: a family with a behaviour-disordered teenager, and a group of older adults.

Structure of sunspot light bridges in the chromosphere and transition region

open access: yes, 2017
Light bridges (LBs) are elongated structures with enhanced intensity embedded in sunspot umbra and pores. We studied the properties of a sample of 60 LBs observed with the Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph (IRIS). Using IRIS near- and far-ultraviolet

Advanced Positioning and Location based services in 4G Mobile-IP Radio Access Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
2004 IEEE 15TH IEEE International Symposium on personal, indoor and mobile radio communications (PIMRC 2004), Barcelona, Spain, 5-8 september 2004.This paper proposes an evolved architecture from 3G networks to provide basic and advanced positioning ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

No Place to Hide that Bytes won't Reveal: Sniffing Location-Based Encrypted Traffic to Track a User's Position

open access: yes, 2015
News reports of the last few years indicated that several intelligence agencies are able to monitor large networks or entire portions of the Internet backbone. Such a powerful adversary has only recently been considered by the academic literature.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Application of artificial neural networks and multiple linear regression on local bond stress equation of UHPC and reinforcing steel bars

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
We investigated the use of an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to predict the Local Bond Stress (LBS) between Ultra-High-Performance Concrete (UHPC) and steel bars, in order to evaluate the accuracy of our LBS equation, proposed by Multiple Linear ...
