Acral lamellar ichthyosis with amino acid substitution in the C‐terminus of keratin 2

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, Volume 37, Issue 4, Page 817-822, April 2023., 2023
Abstract Background Most cases of hereditary ichthyoses present with generalized scaling and skin dryness. However, in some cases skin involvement is restricted to particular body regions as in acral lamellar ichthyosis. Objectives We report on the genetic basis of acral ichthyosis in two families presenting with a similar phenotype.

AnchoisFert: A New Organic Fertilizer from Fish Processing Waste for Sustainable Agriculture

open access: yesGlobal Challenges, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2022., 2022
The “AnchoisFert”, the solid residue comprised of milled anchovy leftovers after fish oil extraction with biobased limonene, is shown to be a powerful organic fertilizer, rich in proteins, organic carbon, flavonoids, magnesium, potassium, phosphate, and sulfate.

Exploring the links between Large Igneous Provinces and dramatic environmental impact

An emerging consensus suggests that Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) and Silicic LIPs (SLIPs) are a significant driver of dramatic global environmental and biological changes, including mass extinctions.

SARS‐CoV‐2 infection and venous thromboembolism after surgery: an international prospective cohort study

open access: yesAnaesthesia, Volume 77, Issue 1, Page 28-39, January 2022., 2022
Summary SARS‐CoV‐2 has been associated with an increased rate of venous thromboembolism in critically ill patients. Since surgical patients are already at higher risk of venous thromboembolism than general populations, this study aimed to determine if patients with peri‐operative or prior SARS‐CoV‐2 were at further increased risk of venous ...

3D Propulsions of Rod‐Shaped Micropropellers

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 3, Issue 11, November 2021., 2021
An asymmetric structural design is proposed to construct rod‐shaped micropropellers that can realize surface‐free 3D propulsions. These 3D micropropellers have an in‐plane rotating “spinning” mode to gain high speed and an out‐of‐plane biconical rotating “precession” mode to pass through narrow channels with a smaller rotation radius, which makes them ...

Microbial community composition controls carbon flux across litter types in early phase of litter decomposition

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 23, Issue 11, Page 6676-6693, November 2021., 2021
Summary Leaf litter decomposition is a major carbon input to soil, making it a target for increasing soil carbon storage through microbiome engineering. We expand upon previous findings to show with multiple leaf litter types that microbial composition can drive variation in carbon flow from litter decomposition and specific microbial community ...

Advancing ARKs in the Historical Ontology Space

open access: yesCode4Lib Journal, 2021
This paper presents the application of Archival Resource Keys (ARKs) for persistent identification and resolution of concepts in historical ontologies. Our use case is the 1910 Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH), which we have converted to
