Violation of Bell's Inequality with Photons from Independent Sources [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
We report a violation of Bell's inequality using one photon from a parametric down-conversion source and a second photon from an attenuated laser beam. The two photons were entangled at a beam splitter using the post-selection technique of Shih and Alley

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...

Finite-Field Ground State of the S=1 Antiferromagnetic-Ferromagnetic Bond-Alternating Chain

open access: yes, 2004
We investigate the finite-field ground state of the S=1 antiferromagnetic-ferromagnetic bond-alternating chain described by the Hamiltonian ${\calH}=\sum\nolimits_{\ell}\bigl\{\vecS_{2\ell-1}\cdot\vecS_{2\ell} +J\vecS_{2\ell}\cdot\vecS_{2\ell+1}\bigr ...

Domain associated with zinc fingers‐containing NF90‐NF45 complex inhibits m6A modification of primary microRNA by suppressing METTL3/14 activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
NF90–NF45 functions as a negative regulator of methyltransferase‐like 3/14 (METTL3/14)‐mediated N6‐methyladenosine (m6A) modification on primary microRNAs (pri‐miRNAs). NF90–NF45 binds to anti‐oncogenic pri‐miRNAs and inhibits their m6A modification, thereby suppressing the biogenesis of anti‐oncogenic miRNAs.

Characterization of glucose metabolism in youth with vs. without cystic fibrosis liver disease: A pilot study

open access: yesJournal of Clinical & Translational Endocrinology, 2022
Background: Diabetes and liver disease are life-threatening complications of cystic fibrosis (CF). CF-liver disease is a risk factor for CF related diabetes (CFRD) development, but the underlying mechanisms linking the two co-morbidities are not known ...

Probabilistic Quantum Encoder for Single-Photon Qubits

open access: yes, 2003
We describe an experiment in which a physical qubit represented by the polarization state of a single-photon was probabilistically encoded in the logical state of two photons.

Growth Differentiation Factor 15 Elevation in the Central Nervous System Is Associated With Failure to Thrive in Alexander Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Alexander disease (AxD) is a severe neurodegenerative disorder caused by gain‐of‐function mutations in the gene for GFAP, which lead to protein aggregation and a primary astrocytopathy. Symptoms vary, but failure to thrive (FTT) and frequent emesis are common and cause significant morbidity. Here we investigate GDF15, a member of the

Experimental realization of optimal asymmetric cloning and telecloning via partial teleportation

open access: yes, 2005
We report an experimental realization of both optimal asymmetric cloning and telecloning of single photons by making use of partial teleportation of an unknown state.

SNUPN‐Related Muscular Dystrophy: Novel Phenotypic, Pathological and Functional Protein Insights

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective SNUPN‐related muscular dystrophy or LGMDR29 is a new entity that covers from a congenital or childhood onset pure muscular dystrophy to more complex phenotypes combining neurodevelopmental features, cataracts, or spinocerebellar ataxia. So far, 12 different variants have been described.
