Relationships between lymphocyte cholesterol homeostasis and LDL-cholesterol

Clinical Biochemistry, 1987
The homeostasis of cholesterol was studied in lymphocytes freshly isolated from the blood and cultured with or without low-density lipoprotein (LDL). The content of cholesterol decreased in the lymphocytes cultured without LDL, whereas LDL substituted for cellular cholesterol losses, in spite of almost suppressed LDL-receptor and lymphocyte cholesterol

Why is LDL‐cholesterol bad cholesterol?

Lipid Technology, 2008

Method of LDL Cholesterol Measurement Influences Classification of LDL Cholesterol Treatment Goals

Journal of Investigative Medicine, 2010
Background Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) has been clearly associated with the risk of developing coronary heart disease. The best and most convenient method for determining LDL-C has come under increased scrutiny in recent years. We present comparisons of the Friedewald calculated LDL-C (C-LDL-C) and direct LDL-C (D-LDL-C) using 3 ...

[LDL-Cholesterol--Is there an "LDL hypothesis"?].

Deutsche medizinische Wochenschrift (1946), 2015
The term "LDL-Hypothesis" is frequently used to describe the association between LDL cholesterol (LDL-C) and cardiovascular outcomes. In the light of recent results of randomized trials the question arises whether the term hypothesis is still adequate.
