Low-dose radiation-induced SUMOylation of NICD1 negatively regulates osteogenic differentiation in BMSCs

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
Various biological effects of ionizing radiation, especially continuous exposure to low-dose radiation (LDR), have attracted considerable attention. Impaired bone structure caused by LDR has been reported, but little is known about the mechanism involved

Compound Heterozygote Friedreich Ataxia Patients With Covert Proximal FXN Gene Deletions

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, Volume 13, Issue 10, Page 2134-2137, October 2026.
ABSTRACT We present Friedreich ataxia patients with frataxin gene deletions. Data and records were collected at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia from patients enrolled in the FACOMS natural history study. Patients with proximal deletions initially diagnosed with only one GAA expanded allele had more severe disease than their homozygous expansion

Closing the Empirical Loop: Autonomous AI Agents Conduct End‐to‐end Research With Human Participants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 56, 9 October 2026.
A multi‐agent AI system autonomously executes the complete scientific workflow, from hypothesis to manuscript, across three psychological studies involving 288 participants. The system designs experiments, collects real world data, develops analysis pipelines, and writes manuscripts with theoretical rigor comparable to experienced researchers.

Closing the Empirical Loop: Autonomous AI Agents Conduct End‐to‐end Research With Human Participants (Adv. Sci. 56/2026)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 56, 9 October 2026.
Autonomous AI Agents Conduct End‐to‐end Research with Human Participants The cover image depicts the multi‐agent system that autonomously conducts scientific research, including real‐world data collection. An orchestrator agent supervises specialist agents across stages of the research workflow, capturing a key feature of the system: agents are ...

Titanate Nanotubes as a Platform for the Electrosynthesis of Cobalt Hexacyanoferrate: An Electrocatalytic Interface for Hydrazine Sensing

open access: yesElectroanalysis, Volume 38, Issue 10, October 2026.
Titanate nanotubes (TiNTs) were employed as ion‐exchange scaffolds for the incorporation of Co2+ ions and subsequent electrochemical growth of cobalt hexacyanoferrate (CoHCF) on screen‐printed electrodes. The resulting TiNT–CoHCF hybrid interface exhibited enhanced electrochemical properties and promoted the electrocatalytic oxidation of hydrazine ...

Antimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy Associated With Systemic Treatment in Osteoradionecrosis: An In Vivo Study

open access: yesLasers in Surgery and Medicine, Volume 58, Issue 8, Page 683-692, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the effects of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT), systemic pharmacological therapy, and their combination on irradiated mandibular post‐extraction bone repair relevant to osteoradionecrosis (ORN) development in a rat model. Methods Twenty‐six male Wistar rats were initially randomized into five experimental groups:

Conformational ensembles of the disordered 4E‐BP2:eIF4E complex restrained by smFRET experiments

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Eukaryotic cap‐dependent translation initiation is regulated by binding of the predominantly folded eukaryotic initiation factor 4E (eIF4E) to the intrinsically disordered eIF4E binding proteins (4E‐BPs). Here, we report full‐length atomistic conformational ensembles generated by IDPConformerGenerator and optimized by X‐EISDv2 workflow for ...

Enhanced Energy Storage Performances of Ceramics Enabled by Local Lattice Disorder Based on High‐Entropy Strategy

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT With the depletion of energy resources and the vigorous development of renewable energy technologies, the demand for efficient energy storage technologies has become increasingly urgent. Dielectric ceramics feature ultrafast charge–discharge speed, but low energy density and inferior efficiency hinder device miniaturization.

Self‐Powered Broadband High‐Responsivity Photodetectors: p‐(CuS)x(ZnSe)1−x/p‐Si Isotype Heterojunction

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 56, 8 October 2026.
This study reports a self‐powered broadband photodetector based on compositionally tuned p‐(CuS)x(ZnSe)1−x/p‐Si isotype heterojunctions. Increasing the CuS ratio improved the film crystallinity and produced a denser, more homogeneous nanopillar morphology, enhancing light absorption.

Angle‐dependent X‐ray absorption correction in small‐ and wide‐angle X‐ray scattering: accounting for constrained scattering volume, beam profiles and capillary wall attenuation

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, Volume 59, Issue 5, Page 1374-1383, October 2026.
We present an improved numerical angle‐dependent absorption correction procedure for line‐collimated small‐ and wide‐angle X‐ray scattering measurements in thin‐walled quartz capillaries. The procedure accounts for the constrained illuminated volume, measured primary beam profiles and capillary‐wall absorption, enabling physically consistent data ...
