Effect of Vacuum Infiltration on Photosynthetic Gas Exchange in Leaf Tissue

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1975
Using a manometric method, photosynthetic oxygen evolution and (14)CO(2) fixation have been determined for leaf tissue of Triticum aestivum L., Hordeum vulgare L., Phaseolus vulgaris L., and Lemna minor L. Approximately similar values in the range 0.2 to 0.4 millimoles grams fresh weight(-1) hour(-1) were obtained for both gases. In tissue subjected to

Hexagonal Boron Nitride on Liquid and Single‐Crystal Copper: Operando X‐Ray and Atomistic Insights into Growth and Interfacial Structure

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Liquid metal catalysts are widely assumed to promote high‐quality 2D growth. In this work, operando experiments and machine‐learning‐accelerated simulations show that hBN on Cu breaks this graphene‐derived expectation, where molten Cu promotes multilayer/3D growth, but re‐solidified single‐crystal Cu stabilizes monolayer formation.

Enhanced Antibacterial Properties of Lyotropic Liquid Crystalline Nanoparticles via Curvature Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lipid nanostructured particles with increasing negative Gaussian curvature progress from vesicles to P‐cubosomes and D‐cubosomes. This curvature hierarchy enhances interaction with bacterial membranes, promotes membrane remodeling and leakage, and potentiates daptomycin activity against MRSA.

Effect of calcium-enriched microalgae extract on mitigating saline stress in papaya seedlings [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Biology
The papaya (Carica papaya L.) is among the mainly fruit species produced in tropical and subtropical climate. The salinity of water in agricultural areas is considered a limiting factor for the expansion of papaya.

Multiscale Coupling From Mastication to Retronasal Aroma Perception: The PG‐DTCFN Model and Multiphysics Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using grilled lamb skewers as a model system, this work builds a multiscale coupling framework from oral processing to retronasal aroma perception, reveals dual‐kinetic release patterns and Electroencephalogram‐characterized central encoding features, and proposes an interpretable physics‐guided deep learning model validated by multiphysics simulation,

Single‐cell Transcriptome Profiling Reveals Gene Regulatory Networks and Key Genes in the Root Epidermis and Cortical Cells Associated with Early Nodulation in Glycine Max

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell transcriptomics of soybean roots soon after rhizobial inoculation reveals epidermal and cortical cell‐specific programs and gene‐regulatory networks acting in symbiosis establishment. We identify an ethylene‐driven regulatory circuit involving WRKY6.3/6.4 transcription factors targeting select Nod19 genes that promotes infection‐thread ...

Revolutionising Agricultural Sustainability: New ‘Furrow Tillage’ can Mitigate Short‐Term Soil‐to‐Atmosphere CO2 Flux and Promote Soil‐Plant‐Microbe Health

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Furrow tillage resolves the conventional‐vs.‐no‐tillage trade‐off by simultaneously cutting CO2 efflux to 2.0–3.0 g C m−2 d−1 and unlocking high nutrient availability for the rice rhizosphere. This scalable agronomic solution strengthens soil health, enhances plant physiology, reshapes microbial metabolism, and shifts paddy systems toward a net ...
