Learning in Cournot Oligopoly: An Experiment [PDF]

open access: possibleSSRN Electronic Journal, 1997
This experiment was designed to test various learning theories in the context of a Cournot oligopoly. We derive theoretical predictions for the learning theories and test these predictions by varying the information given to subjects. The results show that some subjects imitate successful behavior if they have the necessary information; and if they ...

Experiments with Projection Learning

2002
Excessive information is known to degrade the classification performance of many machine learning algorithms. Attribute-efficient learning algorithms can tolerate irrelevant attributes without their performance being affected too much. Valiant's projection learning is a way to combine such algorithms so that this desired property is maintained.
