Pattern Recognition and Image Analysis, 2007
This paper describes a system for visual object recognition based on mobile augmented reality gear. The user can train the system to the recognition of objects online using advanced methods of interaction with mobile systems: Hand gestures and speech input control “virtual menus,” which are displayed as overlays within the camera image.

International Journal of Distance Education Technologies, 2004
This paper introduces the concept of improving student memory retention using a distance learning tool by establishing the student’s communication preference and learning style before the student uses the module contents. It argues that incorporating a distance learning tool with an intelligent/interactive tutoring system using various components ...

Interactive inductive learning
International Journal of Man-Machine Studies, 1993Abstract We propose an interactive probabilistic inductive learning model which defines a feedback relationship between the user and the learning program. We extend previously described learning algorithms to a conditional model previously described by the authors, and formulate our Conditional Probabilistic Learning Algorithm (CPLA), applying ...

IEEE Intelligent Systems, 2017
This article presents a new research area called interactive task learning (ITL), in which an agent actively tries to learn not just how to perform a task better but the actual definition of a task through natural interaction with a human instructor while attempting to perform the task.

Interactive learning with a “society of models”
Pattern Recognition, 1996Digital library access is driven by features, but the relevance of a feature for a query is not always obvious. This paper describes an approach for integrating a large number of context-dependent features into a semi-automated tool. Instead of requiring universal similarity measures or manual selection of relevant features, the approach provides a ...

Learning, Local Interaction, and Coordination [PDF]
Summary: This paper discusses the dynamic implications of learning in a large population coordination game, focusing on the structure of the matching process which describes how players meet. As in a paper of \textit{M. Kandori}, \textit{G. Mailath} and \textit{R. Rob} [Econometrica 61, No.

New sensing technologies, as RFID readers, are being incorporated into mobile devices to provide users with new interaction experiences. And, the combinations of these new technologies open up new challenging application scenarios. One of the areas that could exploit this potential is the design of interactive solutions for context-aware applications ...

Learning Human Interaction by Interactive Phrases
2012In this paper, we present a novel approach for human interaction recognition from videos. We introduce high-level descriptions called interactive phrases to express binary semantic motion relationships between interacting people. Interactive phrases naturally exploit human knowledge to describe interactions and allow us to construct a more descriptive ...

Multimedia and Learning: Patterns of Interaction
2000Many people argue that interactive multimedia has the potential to create high quality learning environments which actively engage the learner, thereby promoting deep learning. However there is little reported empirical evidence to support this claim.

Zulu: An Interactive Learning Competition
2010Active language learning is an interesting task for which theoretical results are known and several applications exist. In order to better understand what the better strategies may be, a new competition called Zulu (http://labh-curien.univ-st-etienne.fr/zulu/) is launched: participants are invited to learn deterministic finite automata from membership ...
