Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Tilted least squares robust estimators

open access: yesAutomatica
In practical scenarios, collected data for identification may be contaminated by unexpected disturbances with large amplitudes. In such cases, the ordinary least squares estimator, commonly used for identification, may fail to deliver satisfactory performance.

Panel Data Estimation for Correlated Random Coefficients Models

open access: yesEconometrics, 2019
This paper considers methods of estimating a static correlated random coefficient model with panel data. We mainly focus on comparing two approaches of estimating unconditional mean of the coefficients for the correlated random coefficients models, the ...

M Robust Weighted Ridge Estimator in Linear Regression Model

open access: yesAfrican Scientific Reports, 2023
Correlated regressors are a major threat to the performance of the conventional ordinary least squares (OLS) estimator. The ridge estimator provides more stable estimates in this circumstance.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

A Note on the Efficiency of Least-Squares Estimates

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B: Statistical Methodology, 1968
Summary A linear model is considered in which errors are independent and identically distributed with zero mean. If the error distribution is specified, except possibly for unknown parameters, the asymptotic efficiency of least-squares estimates relative to maximum-likelihood estimates can be found.

Estimation of simultaneous equation models by backpropagation method using stochastic gradient descent [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ Computer Science
Simultaneous equation model (SEM) is an econometric technique traditionally used in economics but with many applications in other sciences. This model allows the bidirectional relationship between variables and a simultaneous relationship between the ...

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

A Least Squares Method for Variance Estimation in Heteroscedastic Nonparametric Regression

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
Interest in variance estimation in nonparametric regression has grown greatly in the past several decades. Among the existing methods, the least squares estimator in Tong and Wang (2005) is shown to have nice statistical properties and is also easy to ...
