Materials and System Design for Self‐Decision Bioelectronic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights how self‐decision bioelectronic systems integrate sensing, computation, and therapy into autonomous, closed‐loop platforms that continuously monitor and treat diseases, marking a major step toward intelligent, self‐regulating healthcare technologies.

Giant Cardiac Rhabdomyoma with Mixed Atrial Tachycardia and Nonsustained Ventricular Tachycardia in a Newborn with Tuberous Sclerosis

open access: yesThe Ewha Medical Journal, 2022
Cardiac rhabdomyomas are typically presented in the tuberous sclerosis. Although benign and often associated with spontaneous regression, in rare circumstances huge mass size and critical location can lead to heart failure, ventricular outflow tract ...

Targeted 2‐Deoxy‐D‐Ribose Delivery by Biomimetic Nanoplatform Activates EGFR for Accelerated Heart Valve Endothelialization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops a biomimetic nanoplatform using erythrocyte membrane‐camouflaged, CD144 antibody‐functionalized nanoparticles to deliver 2‐deoxy‐D‐ribose (2dDR). This system promotes heart valve endothelialization by enhancing endothelial cell migration and proliferation via EGFR activation, while improving hemocompatibility.

Unexpected systolic anterior motion of the mitral valve-related hypoxemia during transurethral resection of the prostate under spinal anesthesia: a case report

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology, 2022
Background Dynamic obstruction of the left ventricular outflow tract resulting from systolic anterior motion of the mitral valve can be an unexpected cause of acute and severe perioperative hypotension in noncardiac surgery.

Modified Nikaidoh procedure for the correction of complex forms of transposition of the great arteries with ventricular septal defect and left ventricular outflow tract obstruction: mid-term results [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
OBJECTIVES Different surgical techniques for the treatment of complex transposition of the great arteries (TGA) with ventricular septal defect and left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (LVOTO) have been developed, in particular the Rastelli ...

From the Gut to the Brain: Microplastic‐Associated Neurovascular Dysfunction and Implications for Stroke Risk

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chronic oral exposure to microplastics may disrupt gut microbiota homeostasis and intestinal barrier integrity, potentially engaging the gut–brain axis and systemic inflammatory responses. These alterations may be associated with impaired blood–brain barrier function, cerebral microvascular dysfunction, and enhanced endothelial inflammation, pro ...

Anaesthetic management of a patient with hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy posted for emergency lower segment caesarean section

open access: yesJournal of Obstetric Anaesthesia and Critical Care, 2017
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is characterised by asymmetric hypertrophy of the interventricular septum causing intermittent obstruction of the left ventricular outflow tract.

Outcomes in Patients With Obstructive Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and Concomitant Aortic Stenosis Undergoing Surgical Myectomy and Aortic Valve Replacement

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2021
Background Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and aortic stenosis can cause obstruction to the flow of blood out of the left ventricular outflow tract into the aorta, with obstructive HCM resulting in dynamic left ventricular outflow tract obstruction and

Association of PET-measured myocardial flow reserve with echocardiography-estimated pulmonary artery systolic pressure in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BackgroundPulmonary hypertension (PH) is a known complication of HCM and is a strong predictor of mortality. We aim to investigate the relationship between microvascular dysfunction measured by quantitative PET and PH in HCM patients.MethodsEighty-nine ...

Pathology of Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 1965
Lesions causing obstruction to the outflow of blood from the left ventricle may reside in the ascending aorta, the aortic valve, or the outflow tract of the left ventricle. Conditions involving the ascending aorta are usually congenital, and designated as supravalvular aortic stenosis. A tendency is present for this condition to be associated
