Probing the Energy Trilemma Pillars: Do Innovation Pathways Deliver Cleaner and More Equitable Energy Systems?

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Balancing reliable energy supply, equitable access, and environmental sustainability is a central challenge of the global energy transition. This study examines how innovation influences the energy trilemma by shaping energy security, energy equity, and environmental sustainability across 115 countries from 2011 to 2023.

Cemented Versus Cementless Primary Hip Replacement: Assessment of Leg Length Inequality

open access: yes, 2017
Objective: Following hip arthroplasty surgeries, leg length inequality (LLI) has been reported to be a leading cause of orthopaedic surgery malpractice claims. Most of them developed lengthening of the limb rather than shortening.

The choice to submit: freedom, gender, and the figure of God in Pentecostal Nigeria Le choix de se soumettre : liberté, genre et figure divine chez les Pentecôtistes du Nigeria

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
Why do some women choose to submit to their husbands in marriage? In anthropology, the paradox of ‘chosen submission’ has famously been explored by Saba Mahmood. Her work amongst Egyptian women donning the veil in the Islamic da'wa movement spotlights the notion of ‘piety’ to explore how devotion to God can act as a powerful motivator of human ...

Working‐Class Muscles? Co‐Operative Gyms in Interwar Britain

open access: yesHistory, EarlyView.
Abstract The Health & Strength League's network of co‐operative gymnasiums constituted one of interwar Britain's most significant yet overlooked physical culture institutions, affiliating over 800 gyms across Britain and Ireland by 1939. Drawing on Health & Strength magazine's editorial content and reader contributions, this article argues that these ...

Desigualdade estrutural discreta de membros inferiores é suficiente para causar alteração cinética na marcha de corredores? Is structural and mild leg length discrepancy enough to cause a kinetic change in runners' gait?

Factors Affecting Surgical Outcomes Following Rotationplasty in Paediatric Sarcoma: A Literature Review

open access: yesANZ Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
Rotationplasty is a durable limb‐salvage option for paediatric lower‐limb sarcoma. Across 58 studies and 1,217 patients, long‐term functional, psychosocial, and quality‐of‐life outcomes were favourable, often surpassing amputation and endoprosthetic reconstruction.

Computing Skinning Weights via Convex Duality

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We present an alternate optimization method to compute bounded biharmonic skinning weights. Our method relies on a dual formulation, which can be optimized with a nonnegative linear least squares setup. Abstract We study the problem of optimising for skinning weights through the lens of convex duality.

Tangent Blow‐Ups for Processing Non‐Manifold Geometry

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Many geometry processing pipelines implicitly assume their input data is a manifold, or is sampled from one, with a unique tangent plane at every point. Geometric data, however, routinely contains sharp features like edges, corners, self‐intersections, branching junctions, and other singularities, rendering standard methods ill‐defined at ...

Leg length inequality and its relationship with injuries incidence of young basketball players: an observational study.

open access: yesManual Therapy Posturology & Rehabilitation Journal, 2016
Introduction: The leg length inequality (LLI) creates postural changes collaborating with the emergence of functional limitations and musculoskeletal disorders.
