Strictly Conservative Neural Distance Fields

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We propose a first method to generate neural unsigned or signed distance fields (SDFs) that are guaranteed to be conservative with respect to a given 3D shape. This means the true distance is never overestimated and the zero‐level set is a bounding volume for the shape. The method makes use of neural network architectures that ensure Lipschitz

Sick leave in the United Kingdom Post Office, 1850–1908

open access: yesThe Economic History Review, EarlyView.

Optimization Of Thermo-Electric Coolers Using Hybrid Genetic Algorithm And Simulated Annealing

open access: yesArchives of Control Sciences, 2014
Thermo-electric Coolers (TECs) nowadays are applied in a wide range of thermal energy systems. This is due to their superior features where no refrigerant and dynamic parts are needed.

The Bumpy Road From a Well‐Paid Earmarked Parental Leave to Engaged Fatherhood: Externally Driven Reform in a Persistently Gendered Culture

open access: yesGender, Work &Organization, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Well‐paid, nontransferable parental leave for fathers is intended to promote engaged fatherhood and, in turn, gender equality at work and in the household. Yet the extent to which such entitlements achieve these outcomes depends on the cultural and institutional context in which they are introduced.

An enhanced adaptive large neighborhood search algorithm for the multiple allocation p‐hub location problem with a mesh backbone network in video‐on‐demand services

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, EarlyView.
Abstract This study tackles the multiple allocation p$p$‐hub location problem (MApHLP) in the context of video‐on‐demand services, where digital content is partitioned into segments and stored exclusively at selected hub locations. Users, distributed across a wide geographical area, can connect to multiple hubs based on demand patterns, with all hubs ...

Precarious Employment, Individualization Processes, and Professional Cyclists in France

open access: yesSociology Lens, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article explores the relationship between the experience of precarious employment and individualization processes. Drawing from the historical‐sociological approach of Norbert Elias, we explain how and why individualization processes advanced in France over the course of several centuries and how this shaped the employment experiences of ...

Estimating National and Foreign Trade Elasticities Using Generalized Transport Costs

open access: yesJournal of Regional Science, Volume 65, Issue 2, Page 471-496, March 2025.
ABSTRACT We introduce the definition of two distinct trade elasticities corresponding to imports from regions located in the same country (national elasticities) and foreign regions located in other countries (foreign elasticities). We resort to a three‐tier nested CES utility structure to derive the corresponding demand gravity equations.
