Vasculitis associated with Ehrlichia canis and Babesia canis in a dog in the Netherlands
Abstract This report describes a case of severe, sudden‐onset, widespread vasculitis affecting a dog concurrently infected by Ehrlichia canis and Babesia canis. Following diagnostic investigations, the dog was suspected of an immune‐mediated vasculitis, possibly triggered by E. canis, B. canis or their combination. The lesions completely resolved after

Leishmania in synanthropic rodents (Rattus rattus): new evidence for the urbanization of Leishmania (Leishmania) amazonensis [PDF]
Abstract This study aimed to detect parasites from Leishmania genus, to determine the prevalence of anti-Leishmania spp. antibodies, to identify circulating species of the parasite, and to determine epidemiological variables associated with infection in rats caught in urban area of Londrina, Paraná, Brazil.

In Vitro Screening Test Using Leishmania Promastigotes Stably Expressing mCherry Protein [PDF]
Transgenic Leishmania major and Leishmania donovani axenic promastigotes constitutively expressing mCherry were used for in vitro antileishmanial drug screening. This method requires minimal sample manipulation and can be easily adapted to automatic drug

Atomic resolution snapshot of Leishmania ribosome inhibition by the aminoglycoside paromomycin
Leishmania is a single-celled eukaryotic parasite afflicting millions of humans worldwide, with current therapies limited to a poor selection of drugs that mostly target elements in the parasite’s cell envelope.

A case of canine cutaneous reactive histiocytosis over the body trunk in an adult pit bull terrier
Abstract The objective of this report is to present a case of canine cutaneous reactive histiocytosis with a high number of dendritic cells. A 7‐year‐old male pit bull terrier was presented with a 5‐month history of skin nodules and plaques on the trunk of varying diameter, along with corneal oedema and anterior uveitis.

Evidence for regulated expression of Telomeric Repeat-containing RNAs (TERRA) in parasitic trypanosomatids [PDF]
The Telomeric Repeat-containing RNAs (TERRA) participate in the homeostasis of telomeres in higher eukaryotes. Here, we investigated the expression of TERRA in Leishmania spp.

Synthesis and biological evaluation of thiazole derivatives as LbSOD inhibitors
Leishmaniasis is considered as one of the major neglected tropical diseases due to its magnitude and wide geographic distribution. Leishmania braziliensis, responsible for cutaneous leishmaniasis, is the most prevalent species in Brazil.

The circadian clock in immune cells controls the magnitude of Leishmania parasite infection
The intracellular parasite Leishmania uses neutrophils and macrophages as host cells upon infection. These immune cells harbour their own intrinsic circadian clocks, known to influence many aspects of their functions.

Abstract Fever, non‐regenerative anaemia and leukopenia were documented in a 7‐year‐old, entire, male Akita Inu dog. The serum biochemistry and urinalysis were unremarkable. Tests for infectious agents were negative, except for SNAP 4Dx seropositive for Anaplasma phagocytophilum or A. platys. PCR for Anaplasma spp. was negative.
