Experimental Inoculation of Panamanian Mammals with Leishmania braziliensis
The Journal of Parasitology, 1965Attempts to infect native Panamanian mammals with culture forms of local human strains of Leishmania braziliensis produced cutaneous infections for the first time in the spiny rat (Proechimys semispinosus), white-tailed tree rat (Tylomys panamensis), kinkajou (Potos flavus), and olingo (Bassaricyon gabbii).

Evidence of RNA editing in Leishmania braziliensis promastigotes
Parasitology Research, 2010RNA editing in trypanosomatids is an elaborate form of post-transcriptional processing that inserts and deletes uridines in many mitochondrial pre-mRNAs, providing the genetic information needed to create functional transcripts. The process has been extensively analyzed in Trypanosoma brucei, Crithidia fasciculata, and Leishmania tarentolae.

Leishmania braziliensis: Physical and chemical stress in hamsters
Experimental Parasitology, 1971Abstract Eighty hamsters were inoculated via the skin of the nose with promastigotes of Leishmania braziliensis. Sixty, in groups of 10, were subjected to crowding, swimming, restraint, and to injections of dexamethasone and of ethylene glycol. Twenty were kept as controls.
