It is characterized by and easily separated from Drepanolejeunea by the unbroken basal vitta of 3−5(−9) ocelli in leaf lobes, absence of scattered ocelli in leaf lobes, outer lateral margin of the upright underleaf lobes with a tooth, and single, unicellular tooth
