Further studies on high molecular weight liver glycogen.
A simple method for the extraction of undegraded liver glycogen is described. The molecular weight distribution curve as measured by gradient centrifugation was quite variable and was found to be unrelated to glycogen content.

The microsomal glucosidases which act on the oligosaccharide that contains 2 N-acetylglucosamine, 9 mannose and 1–3 glucose residues have been studied. Two fractions were separated by differential solubility in detergent and phosphate solutions or by gel

Mannose transfer to lipid linked di-N-acetylchitobiose.
Mannose was found to be transferred from guanosine diphosphate mannose to dolichol-P-P-di-N-acetylchitobiose when these substrates were incubated with hen oviduct or rat liver microsomes.

Further studies on a glycolipid formed from dolichyl-D-glucosyl monophosphate.
Incubation of liver microsomes with dolichyl- d -glucosyl- 14 C monophosphate led to the labelling of an endogenous acceptor. This compound seems to be also a dolichol derivative.

In vitro synthesis of particulate glycogen from uridine diphosphate glucose.
High molecular weight glycogen has been prepared in vitro with liver glycogen synthetase (uridine diphosphate glucose: α-1,4-glucan α-4-glucosyltransferase, EC 2.4.1.11) and branching enzyme (α-1,4-glucan: α-1,4-glucan 6-glycosyltransferase, EC 2.4.1.18)

Phosphorylation of acetylhexosamines.
The phosphorylation of acetylglucosamine and acetylgalactosamine by adenosine triphosphate catalyzed by extracts of rat organs has been studied. The reaction products had the properties of acetylglucosamine 6-phosphate and acetylgalactosamine 1-phosphate,

ENZYMIC DEPHOSPHORYLATION OF ADENOSINE DIPHOSPHATE PHOSPHOGLYCERIC ACID.
An enzyme from muscle which acts on adenosine diphosphate phosphoglyceric acid and leads to the hydrolysis of the phosphate group at the 2-position of the glyceric acid moiety has been studied. The enzyme is strongly stimulated by inorgamoc pyrophosphate.
