ABSTRACT Fluoropyrimidines are a vital component of chemotherapy regimens. Deleterious DPYD variants reduce activity of dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase, the rate‐limiting enzyme of fluoropyrimidine catabolism, resulting in reduced fluoropyrimidine clearance and elevated risk of life‐threatening toxicities.

Abstract The influence of elevated surface water temperature in disconnected pools of intermittent rivers on microbial metabolism within the benthic biolayer and underlying sediments remains unclear. This study investigates sediment metabolism under pool temperatures of 20°C, 30°C, and 40°C, focusing on biofilm growth, bioclogging, and reaction rates ...

Abstract Democratic innovations are increasingly used to counteract crisis phenomena such as citizen disengagement or disaffection. But to offer a cure, democratic innovations must be embedded within the democratic system; there must be a healthy “flow in communication” (henceforth: transmissions) between different democratic spaces.

Abstract Global storm resolving models (GSRMs) represent the next generation of global climate models. One of them is a 5‐km Icosahedral Nonhydrostatic Weather and Climate Model (ICON). Its high resolution means that parameterizations of convection and clouds, including subgrid‐scale clouds, are omitted, relying on explicit simulation but necessarily ...

A new algorithm for generalized fractional programs [PDF]
A new dual problem for convex generalized fractional programs with no duality gap is presented and it is shown how this dual problem can be efficiently solved using a parametric approach.

Abstract The benthic biolayer is a shallow zone of reactive streambed sediments, widely believed to contribute disproportionately to whole‐stream reactions such as aerobic respiration and contaminant transformation. Quantifying the relative contribution of the biolayer to whole‐stream reactions remains challenging because it requires that hyporheic ...

Abstract The Lepontine dome (European Central Alps) is constituted by basement nappes under Alpine regional Barrovian metamorphism, yet the duration and pattern of its post‐peak amphibolite‐facies cooling remain uncertain. We examine garnet‐rim compositional re‐adjustment and employ inverse multicomponent diffusion modeling to estimate apparent cooling

Criss-cross methods: A fresh view on pivot algorithms [PDF]
Criss-cross methods are pivot algorithms that solve linear programming problems in one phase starting with any basic solution. The first finite criss-cross method was invented by Chang, Terlaky and Wang independently.

A new beef: An analysis of discourse coalitions in the nascent cellular agriculture policy subsystem
Abstract A robust approach to examining the nature and influence of coalitions in the policy process is the Advocacy Coalition Framework (ACF), which is especially useful to study policy issues fraught with scientific and technical controversy. Yet, important gaps exist in ACF literature regarding nascent policy subsystems. Consequently, there is scant

The Lemke–Howson Algorithm Solving Finite Non-Cooperative Three-Person Games in a Special Setting
We present a brief outline of an approximate method (3LP) proposed by E.G. Golshteyn for solving three-person games in mixed strategies. Similar to the 2LP-algorithm (which approximately solves bimatrix games), the solution procedure consists in the search of a global minimum of the so-called Nash function.
