Time series model based on global structure of complete genome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A time series model based on the global structure of the complete genome is proposed. Three kinds of length sequences of the complete genome are considered. The correlation dimensions and Hurst exponents of the length sequences are calculated.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Capillary force-induced structural instability in liquid infiltrated elastic circular tubes

open access: yes, 2009
The capillary-induced structural instability of an elastic circular tube partially filled by a liquid is studied by combining theoretical analysis and molecular dynamics simulations.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Correlating and predicting the air infiltration through the cracks of suspended timber floors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
This paper shows that the visible gap length may be used as a physical parameter when correlating pressure difference to volume flow rate (or air velocity) through the cracks between floorboards and can be termed the Equivalent Crack Length.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Biometric analysis of Oncorhynchus mykiss (Walbaum, 1792) and Salmo trutta, Linnaeus, 1758 from the different habitat in Himachal Pradesh

open access: yesScientific Reports
Biometric analysis offered important information on growth patterns, population differentiation, and habitat effects in trout. The present study aimed to evaluate variations among diverse ecological conditions and growth patterns across three farm sites ...

Relationship between fish size and otolith length for 63 species of fishes from the Eastern North Pacific Ocean [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Otoliths commonly are used to determine the taxon, age, and size of fishes. This information is useful for population management, predator-prey studies, and archaeological research.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Sex-Specific Vulnerability of Fish to Dredging in the Mediterranean Coastal Lagoon (Lake Manzala, Egypt)

open access: yesAquatic Sciences and Engineering
Lagoon dredging disrupts aquatic ecosystems and fish populations. A study in Lake Manzala, Egypt, assessed these impacts by analyzing 2616 fish across ten species.
