The LiCl effect on the conformation of lentinan in DMSO

Biopolymers, 2012
AbstractLentinan (β‐(1→3)‐D‐glucan) was found to be successfully fractionated by the mixture of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and lithium chloride (LiCl) as a solvent and acetone as a precipitant. Light scattering and viscosity measurements were made on solutions of fractionated samples in pure DMSO and 0.2M LiCl/DMSO in the range of the molecular weight ...

The intravenous toxicity of lentinan to the beagle dog

Toxicology Letters, 1981
The i.v administration of lentinan to the Beagle dog induced changes in the cytoplasm of macrophagic cells in the liver, spleen, kidney, lungs, lymph nodes, small intestine. Electron-lucent or filamentous inclusions were demonstrated in the liver, kidney and spleen. A dose level of 0.5 mg/kg/day was without adverse effect.

Protective activity of Lentinan in experimental tuberculosis

International Immunopharmacology, 2003
Protective effects of Lentinan (Ajinomoto, Japan) against Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection were studied by in vitro and in vivo mouse models. The effectiveness of Lentinan administrated intraperitoneally (i.p.) before infection at a dose of 1 mg/kg three times at 2-day intervals was monitored in vivo by several parameters (body temperature; spleen ...

Inhibitory effect of sulfated lentinan and lentinan against tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) in tobacco seedlings

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2013
The antiviral activities of sulfated lentinan (sLNT) and lentinan (LNT) against tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) in tobacco seedlings and the underlying mechanism were investigated. Compared with LNT, sLNT showed significantly higher inhibitory effects on viral infection and TMV multiplication in a dose-dependent way, which might be due to its binding with ...

Quality evaluation of lentinan injection produced in China

Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, 2013
Lentinan is a β-(1→6) branched β-(1→3)-glucan derived from Lentinula edodes mushroom. It has been developed as an adjuvant to cancer chemotherapy and clinically used in Japan and China. Up to date, six lentinan injections or powders for injection produced by individual manufacturers were widely used in clinic in China.

Histamine sensitizing activity of lentinan, an antitumour polysaccharide

Experientia, 1973
