Lentinan-Based Oral Nanoparticle Loaded Budesonide With Macrophage-Targeting Ability for Treatment of Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2021
Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a global, chronic, and refractory disease. Corticosteroids are first-line drugs for the treatment of UC but also cause adverse side effects. Budesonide (BUD), a corticosteroid with relatively low side effects, has been approved

Fate of Lentinan (Antitumor polysaccharide) I : Fate of Lentinan in Mice, Rats and Dogs

open access: yesThe Journal of Toxicological Sciences, 1980
Fate of lentinan, which is one of antitumor polysaccharides, was investigated with 3H-lentinan. 3H-Ientinan was prepared by Wilzbach 3H gas exposure labeling, then purified by the gel filtration chromatography. 1) After a single intravenous injection of 3H-lentinan, radioactivity in plasma declined in a biphasic process. 2) There were urinary and fecal

Determination of chain conformation of polysaccharides using a SEC‐MALLS‐Vis

open access: yesFood Biomacromolecules, Volume 3, Issue 2, Page 273-280, June 2026.
Abstract For polysaccharides, biological activity is associated with the chemical structure as well as the chain conformation. The chain conformation is conventionally derived from the scaling relationships between weight‐average molecular weight (Mw) and intrinsic viscosity ([η]) or the radius of gyration (Rg) or the translational diffusion ...

Antitumor effect of polysaccharide lentinan on MH-134 ascites hepatoma in C3H/He mice.

open access: yes, 1982
Lentinan inhibited the proliferation of MH-134 ascites hepatoma transplanted subcutaneously. The best result occurred when 1 mg-2 mg/kg of lentinan was administered for 10 consecutive days from the eighth day after tumor transplantation.

Metabolism and Biodegradation of β-Glucan in vivo

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2022
The β-Glucans widely exist in plants and edible fungi, and their diverse bioactivities and good physicochemical properties have been widely reported. In addition, β-glucan intravenous injections (such as lentinan and schizophyllan) have been clinically ...

Fungal Polysaccharides as Next‐Generation Bioactive: Advances in Structure–Activity Mapping, Mode of Action, and Biotechnological Horizons

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Fungal polysaccharides (FPs) represent a diverse class of bioactive macromolecules widely studied for their nutritional, therapeutic, and biotechnological value. This review synthesizes recent advances (2020–2025) in the structural characterization, biological functions, and translational potential of FPs.

Nanomaterials in Edible Mushroom Production: Yield Optimization, Biofortification and SDG Alignment

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
Nanotechnology enhances sustainable mushroom production across pre‐ and post‐harvest stages. Nano‐fertilizers (Zn, Se) and growth stimulants (TiO2, ZnO) improve yield and nutritional quality. Antimicrobial nanoparticles (AgNPs) contribute to effective disease control.

Upregulation of miR-216a-5p by Lentinan Targeted Inhibition of JAK2/STAT3 Signaling Pathway to Reduce Lung Adenocarcinoma Cell Stemness, Promote Apoptosis, and Slow Down the Lung Adenocarcinoma Mechanisms

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2021
To investigate the effect of Lentinan (LNT) on lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) cell stemness and its mechanism. In this study, we founded that LNT significantly reduce the cell proliferation, activity, migration, invasion, and stemness of LUAD cells, and ...

Effects of Lentinan on Cytotoxic Functions of Human Lymphocytes

open access: yesImmunopharmacology and Immunotoxicology, 1986
The in vitro effects of lentinan on natural killer (NK), antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC), lectin-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (LDCC) and mitogen-induced blast transformation were studied in patients with solid tumors and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL).

Immunopotentiation by Natural Extracts: Mechanisms and Applications in Influenza Vaccine Adjuvant Development

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
Natural Extracts as Candidate Influenza Vaccine Adjuvants. Seasonal influenza vaccines face limitations due to viral mutations and low efficacy in vulnerable populations. Traditional adjuvants often have safety or immune‐activation constraints, leading to increased interest in natural extracts from plants, marine organisms, and fungi.
