Consistent Buzz‐Pollination Posture Suggests Division of Labour Between Dimorphic Stamens in Bredia hirsuta (Melastomataceae) on Okinawa‐Jima Island, Japan

Bredia hirsuta, a small pollen flower, is buzz‐pollinated by Amegilla dulcifera in a posture separating ventral gripping from dorsal stigma contact. The bee grips short‐stamen ventrally, while the stigma contacts the dorsal abdomen near long‐stamen anther tips.

Decoding chemical profiles in insect‐induced gall development: Insights from Phacopteron lentiginosum–Garuga pinnata interactions

Analysis of volatile and non‐volatile metabolites across three developmental stages (3rd, 4th and 5th instar nymphal stages) of leaf galls induced by Phacopteron lentiginosum on Garuga pinnata revealed that the 3rd stage exhibited the highest chemical diversity and concentration followed by 4th and 5th stages.

ABSTRACT Flatheaded borers (Coleoptera: Buprestidae) are largely xylophagous insects. Larvae of flatheaded borers tunnel into the trunks of trees, with boring and feeding damage eventually appearing on the surface as discolored bark, sunken areas, bark splits or bark sloughing.
