The passive diffusion ofLeptospira interrogans [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Biology, 2014
Motivated by recent experimental measurements, the passive diffusion of the bacterium \textit{Leptospira interrogans} is investigated theoretically. By approximating the cell shape as a straight helix and using the slender-body-theory approximation of Stokesian hydrodynamics, the resistance matrix of \textit{Leptospira} is first determined numerically.

Genome features of Leptospira interrogans serovar Copenhageni [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2004
We report novel features of the genome sequence of Leptospira interrogans serovar Copenhageni, a highly invasive spirochete. Leptospira species colonize a significant proportion of rodent populations worldwide and produce life-threatening infections in mammals.

Human Leptospirosis on Reunion Island, Indian Ocean: Are Rodents the (Only) Ones to Blame? [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2016
BACKGROUND:Although leptospirosis is a zoonosis of major concern on tropical islands, the molecular epidemiology of the disease aiming at linking human cases to specific animal reservoirs has been rarely explored within these peculiar ecosystems ...

A Canine Leptospirosis Clinical Case Due to Leptospira interrogans (Serogroup Icterohaemorrhagiae) in a Dog Kennel in Castelvetrano (Western Sicily, South Italy)

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences, 2023
Leptospirosis is a worldwide widespread zoonosis caused by Leptospira genus. We report an acute leptospirosis case in a puppy housed at a municipal kennel and the subsequent diagnostic investigations carried out on all dogs housed in the kennel ...

Leptospira interrogans Serogroup Pomona in a Dairy Cattle Farm in a Multi-Host Zootechnical System

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences, 2022
Bovine leptospirosis is an infectious zoonotic disease causing reproductive problems and economic losses in livestock. This work reports, for the first time in Sicily (South Italy), an outbreak of Leptospira interrogans serogroup Pomona that occurred in ...

Host Cell Binding Mediated by Leptospira interrogans Adhesins. [PDF]

open access: yesInt J Mol Sci, 2022
Leptospirosis is a neglected infectious disease with global impact on both humans and animals. The increase in urban development without sanitation planning is one of the main reasons for the disease spreading. The symptoms are similar to those of flu-like diseases, such as dengue, yellow fever, and malaria, which can result in a misleading clinical ...

Penicillin-Binding Proteins in Leptospira interrogans [PDF]

open access: yesAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 2001
ABSTRACT The Leptospira interrogans ponA and pbpB genes were isolated and characterized. ponA and pbpB encode the penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) 1 and 3, respectively.

Leptospira diversity in animals and humans in Tahiti, French Polynesia. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2017
Leptospirosis is a highly endemic bacterial zoonosis in French Polynesia (FP). Nevertheless, data on the epidemiology of leptospirosis in FP are scarce.

Genome conservation in isolates of Leptospira interrogans [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1991
Reference strains for each of the 23 serogroups of Leptospira interrogans yielded different pulsed-field gel electrophoresis patterns of NotI digestion products. This was also the case for the 14 serovars belonging to serogroup Icterohaemorrhagiae (with one exception).

Proteome Analysis of Leptospira interrogans Virulent Strain [PDF]

open access: yesThe Open Microbiology Journal, 2009
Leptospirosis is a worldwide zoonotic infection of human and veterinary concern. Caused by pathogenic spirochetes of the genus Leptospira , the disease presents greater incidence in tropical and subtropical regions.
