In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Background Claudin-4 (CLDN4) is one of several proteins that act as molecular mediators of embryo implantation. Recently, we examined immunolabeling of leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) in the endometrial tissue of 52 IVF patients, and found that LIF ...

Immunorecognition of leukemic stem cells by NK cells : the role of HDAC inhibitors in NKG2D ligand-mediated anti-tumor responses in acute myeloid leukemia [PDF]
The diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is associated to a poor long-term outcome due to frequent relapse despite intensive chemotherapy, radiation and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) as well as continuous advances in treatment ...

Leukemia Inhibitory Factor Is an Anti-Inflammatory and Analgesic Cytokine [PDF]
The mRNA for leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF), a neuroimmune signaling molecule, is elevated during skin inflammation produced by intraplantar injection of complete Freund’s adjuvant (CFA). Moreover, although LIF knock-out mice display normal sensitivity

Infrequent Wnt inhibitory factor-1 (Wif-1) methylation in chronic lymphocytic leukemia
The Wnt pathway has been shown recently, to be activated in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). This is the first study to examine the role of Wnt inhibitory factor-1 (Wif-1) methylation in the pathogenesis of haematolymphoid malignancies ...

Inhibition of MDR1 does not sensitize primitive chronic myeloid leukemia CD34+ cells to imatinib [PDF]

Objective: To investigate the interaction of imatinib mesylate (IM) with the clinically relevant adenosine triphosphate-binding cassette efflux transporter MDR1 (ABCB1) in cells from patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML)

NMR metabolomics revealed concentration‐dependent metabolic perturbations in HepG2 cells exposed to H2O2. Rifampicin pretreatment enhanced metabolic competence, attenuated toxin‐induced alterations and produced metabolite profiles more consistent with human liver physiology, supporting the use of CYP450‐induced HepG2 models for improved in vitro ...

Efficacy of leukemia inhibitory factor in experimental autoimmune neuritis
Leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) is a pleiotropic cytokine that exerts neurotrophic and myotrophic actions. We have investigated the effect of LIF in experimental autoimmune neuritis (EAN), an animal model of Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS). Treatment with
