Effect of bovine leukemia virus (BLV) infection on bovine mammary epithelial cells RNA-seq transcriptome profile.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Bovine leukemia virus (BLV) is a δ-retrovirus responsible for Enzootic Bovine Leukosis (EBL), a lymphoproliferative disease that affects cattle. The virus causes immune system deregulation, favoring the development of secondary infections.

No genetic evidence for involvement of Deltaretroviruses in adult patients with precursor and mature T-cell neoplasms

open access: yes, 2007
Background The Deltaretrovirus genus comprises viruses that infect humans (HTLV), various simian species (STLV) and cattle (BLV). HTLV-I is the main causative agent in adult T-cell leukemia in endemic areas and some of the simian T-cell lymphotropic ...

Review: Risks of disease transmission through semen in cattle

open access: yesAnimal, 2018
The purpose of this paper is to review scientific evidence concerning pathogens that could potentially be transmitted via bovine semen. As a result of a careful analysis of the characteristics of infections that may cause transmission of disease through ...

Diagnostic Measures of Disease Progression in Cattle Following Natural Infection with Bovine Leukemia Virus

open access: yesPathogens, 2021
This study describes the longitudinal changes in bovine leukemia virus (BLV) ELISA antibodies, proviral load (PVL), and blood lymphocyte counts (LC) observed over a 2.5-year period in naturally infected cattle.

The bovine leukemia virus p34 is a transactivator protein. [PDF]

open access: yesThe EMBO Journal, 1987
Recombinant Moloney murine retroviruses containing the BLV post-envelope long open reading frame were constructed and transfected into the psi 2 packaging cell line. They were shown to encode and to express a 34-kd protein able to transactivate the BLV long terminal repeat-directed gene expression in the respective transfected cells.

Seroprevalence of bovine leukemia virus and association with bovine infectious abortion in Creole breeds from tropical grazing herds in the Colombian Caribbean [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinary World
Background and Aim: In the Caribbean region of Colombia, the concomitance of endemic infectious agents is a common problem, and coinfections are possible, increasing the complexity of cattle herds’ sanitary, reproductive, and productive problems.

Bovine Leukemia Virus Infection and Mastitis

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1982
Adult dairy cows (226 head) in three herds were sampled both for bovine leukemia virus infection and for mastitis infection. A chi square analysis revealed no statistically significant association between the two types of infection.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Effect of dry pasteurized milk from cows infected with the leukemia virus on the development of malignant tumors

open access: yesВетеринария и кормление
The article presents experimental data on the reproduction of a muscular solid tumor in BALB/c mice and the study of dried milk from leukemia virus-infected cows after long-term pasteurization effect on the development of these tumors.
