Severe Necrotizing Community‐Acquired Pneumonia and Bilateral Empyema in an Immunocompetent Patient due to Fusobacterium necrophorum

open access: yesCase Reports in Pulmonology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Necrotizing pneumonia and empyema caused by Fusobacterium necrophorum are uncommon. The classical presentation of Lemierre′s syndrome, characterized by pharyngotonsillitis and internal jugular vein thrombosis, is not always observed, and incomplete and atypical variants can cause diagnostic uncertainty and delay in treatment.

Genome Analysis of Staphylococcus aureus Isolated From the Feces of Diarrheal Patients in the Region of East China, 2019–2024

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Science, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Staphylococcus aureus is a leading cause of foodborne diarrhea, primarily due to staphylococcal enterotoxins (SEs). This study employed whole‐genome sequencing to characterize 106 S. aureus isolates from diarrheal patients in East China (2019–2024). We identified 23 sequence types, with ST398 (22.6%) and ST5 (7.5%) among the most prevalent.

Remitting infections due to community-acquired Panton–Valentine leukocidin-producing Staphylococcus aureus in the Milan area

open access: yesJournal of Infection and Public Health, 2018
One of the most important Staphylococcus aureus virulence factors is Panton–Valentine leukocidin (PVL). We describe an outbreak of recurrent cutaneous PVL infections in different members of three family clusters.

Investigation of the Abundance of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus (Including Virulence Gene Profiles) and Heavy Metal Contamination in Camel Milk

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 6, November 2025.
GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT Camel milk exhibited Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli contamination with associated antibiotic resistance and virulence genes. Concurrently, heavy metal levels (Pb, As and Cd) in these samples were low and below safety limits, providing a comprehensive assessment of dual hazards in this vital food source.

Panton-Valentine leukocidin osteomyelitis in children: a growing threat [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Hospital Medicine, 2015
Panton-Valentine leukocidin-producing Staphylococcus aureus osteomyelitis is associated with multiple complications including multiple abscesses, deep vein thrombosis and fulminant sepsis. This article reviews the literature concerning this emerging threat which is currently under-recognized.

Inhibitory Effect of Amentoflavone on the Virulence of MRSA by Targeting ClpP

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 29, Issue 20, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) poses significant therapeutic challenges due to its global spread and virulence. Targeting the critical virulence regulator ClpP presents a promising antivirulence strategy. This study investigated AMF's mechanism against MRSA through molecular dynamics simulations, FRET and TSA.

Mono‐ and Co‐Culture Biofilms of Candida auris or Candida albicans With Staphylococcus aureus Regulate Cell Viability and Pro‐Inflammatory Cytokine Expression Differently in Oral Cancer Cell Lines

open access: yesJournal of Oral Pathology &Medicine, Volume 54, Issue 9, Page 909-915, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Candida species and Staphylococcus aureus are nosocomial pathogens associated with immunocompromised individuals, especially oral cancer patients. This study elucidates the effects of mono‐ and co‐culture biofilms of Candida albicans , Candida auris and S.
