An integrated probiotic system is engineered to execute a programmed therapeutic cascade against inflammatory bowel disease. Upon pathological signals, the system sequentially performs ROS scavenging, tungsten release, and selective pathogen suppression, thereby breaking the oxidative stress–dysbiosis cycle to remodel gut microbiota and reinforce ...

Andrographolide Inhibits Expression of NLPR3 Inflammasome in Canine Mononuclear Leukocytes
Inflammasomes are multiprotein complexes that trigger processes through caspase-1 activation, leading to the maturation of proinflammatory cytokines, such as IL-1β and IL-18.

Chitotriosidase activity in plasma and mononuclear and polymorphonuclear leukocyte populations [PDF]
AbstractIn the general population, about 5% of individuals are homozygotic and 35% are heterozygotic carriers for chitotriosidase (ChT) deficiency. Activated macrophages are considered to be the main source of plasma ChT activity, which permits the biochemical characterization of homozygote deficients.

Monoclonal antibody identification of infiltrating mononuclear leukocytes in lupus nephritis [PDF]
Monoclonal antibody identification of infiltrating mononuclear leukocytes in lupus nephritis (LN). Populations of mononuclear inflammatory cells infiltrating the renal interstitium in LN were studied by means of an avidin–biotin immunoperoxidase ...

The macrocyclic lactone anthelmintics are the only class of drug currently used to prevent heartworm disease. Their extremely high potency in vivo is not mirrored by their activity against Dirofilaria immitis larvae in vitro, leading to suggestions that ...

Bradykinin-inactivating activity of mononuclear leukocytes.
Bradykinin-inactivating activity of mononuclear leukocytes was examined using guinea-pig macrophages and lymphocytes. Intact macrophages rapidly inactivated bradykinin. Bradykinin-inactivating activity of macrophages was present in the membrane and cytosol fractions but not in the nuclear and granular fractions.
