Level set methods for dynamic tomography [PDF]

open access: yes2004 2nd IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging: Macro to Nano (IEEE Cat No. 04EX821), 2005
In this paper, we propose a novel variational framework for the reconstruction of dynamic objects from sparse and noisy tomographic data. Using an object-based scene model, we developed a general object dynamic model based on a one to one and differentiable mapping. We then propose a novel distance between curves to incorporate the object dynamics into

Curvature Calculations for the Level-Set Method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The present work illustrates a difficulty with the level-set method to accurately capture the curvature of interfaces in regions that are of equal distance to two or more interfaces. Such regions are characterized by kinks in the level-set function where the derivative is discontinuous. Thus the standard discretization scheme is not suitable.

Topology optimization for maximizing linear buckling load based on level set method

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2022
Stability and buckling have attracted extensive attention in the design of structural elements, especially in the design of thin-walled structures since they may naturally have poor stability and be prone to buckling failure.

A Novel Adaptive Level Set Segmentation Method [PDF]

open access: yesComputational and Mathematical Methods in Medicine, 2014
The adaptive distance preserving level set (ADPLS) method is fast and not dependent on the initial contour for the segmentation of images with intensity inhomogeneity, but it often leads to segmentation with compromised accuracy. And the local binary fitting model (LBF) method can achieve segmentation with higher accuracy but with low speed and ...

COUPLING BOUNDARY ELEMENT METHOD WITH LEVEL SET METHOD TO SOLVE INVERSE PROBLEM

open access: yesInformatyka, Automatyka, Pomiary w Gospodarce i Ochronie Środowiska, 2017
The boundary element method and the level set method can be used in order to solve the inverse problem for electric field. In this approach the adjoint equation arises in each iteration step.

A Finite Element Method for Level Sets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Level set methods have recently gained much popularity to capture discontinuities, including their possible propagation. In this contribution we present a finite element approach for solving the governing equations of level set methods. After a review of the governing equations, the initialisation of the level sets, the discretisation on a finite ...

Multi-Scale Adaptive Level Set Segmentation Method Based on Saliency

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Image segmentation is an important research of computer vision. Due to the effects of intensity inhomogeneity, target edge and background complex, it is still challenging to achieve effective segmentation of target adaptively.

Performance Evaluation of Uncooled UAV Infrared Camera in Detecting Concrete Delamination

open access: yesInfrastructures, 2022
Concrete delamination detection using unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-mounted infrared cameras has proved effective in recent research. However, most studies used expensive research-grade infrared cameras and proprietary software to acquire images, which ...
