Analysis of the Characteristic of Railroad(level-crossing) Accident Frequency [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Korean Society of Safety, 2014
Railroad traffic accident consists of train accident, level-crossing accident, traffic death and injury accident caused by train or vehicle, and it is showing a continuous downward trend over a long period of time. As a result of the frequency comparison of train accidents and level-crossing accidents using the railway accident statistics data of ...

LEVEL CROSSING ACCIDENTS ANALYSIS IN ROMANIA [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the University of Petroşani. Mechanical Engineering, 2023
Level crossing accidents are one of the largest groups of fatal accidents and it is often useful to investigate them from a safety point of view in order to avoid their recurrence.

Integrating driving and traffic simulators for the study of railway level crossing safety interventions: a methodology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Safety at Railway Level Crossings (RLXs) is an important issue within the Australian transport system. Crashes at RLXs involving road vehicles in Australia are estimated to cost $10 million each year.

Train set crash analysis with crash behavior of a coupler

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2022
In the event of a collision accident, if a coupler is failed, the distance between railway adjacent vehicles cannot be maintained at a constant space, which may result in a collision between the ends of those railway vehicles.

Analysis of railway level crossing accident using numerical simulations (Study of crash safety evaluation for railway vehicles)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2015
A railway collision at a level crossing of the Hakodate line of JR Hokkaido occurred on January 29, 2010. The details of this accident can be obtained in the railway accident investigation report published by the Japan Transport Safety Board.

A Morse complex on manifolds with boundary [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Given a compact smooth manifold $M$ with non-empty boundary and a Morse function, a pseudo-gradient Morse-Smale vector field adapted to the boundary allows one to build a Morse complex whose homology is isomorphic to the (absolute or relative to the ...

Fatal accidents at railway level crossings in Great Britain 1946–2009 [PDF]

open access: yesAccident Analysis & Prevention, 2011
This paper investigates fatal accidents and fatalities at level crossings in Great Britain over the 64-year period 1946-2009. The numbers of fatal accidents and fatalities per year fell by about 65% in the first half of that period, but since then have remained more or less constant at about 11 fatal accidents and 12 fatalities per year.

Behavioural compensation by drivers of a simulator when using a vision enhancement system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Technological progress is suggesting dramatic changes to the tasks of the driver, with the general aim of making driving environment safer. Before any of these technologies are implemented, empirical research is required to establish if these devices do,
