The expression of lewis antigens in neoplasms of the gastrointestinal tract
Pathology, 1989The indirect immunoperoxidase technique has been used to demonstrate Lea and Leb antigens in paraffin sections of both morphologically normal gastric and colonic mucosae and their neoplastic counterparts. Expression differed in various regions of the gastrointestinal tract: Leb occurred most frequently in the stomach and Lea most frequently in the ...

Characterization of two antigens in parkinsonian Lewy bodies
Brain Research, 1988Two antigens, G7 and G9, which are labelled by monoclonal antibodies in Lewy bodies in brains from patients with Parkinson's disease, were characterized by two-dimensional electrophoresis, followed by electroblotting, in order to explore their possible relationship with neuronal degeneration in this disease.

Immunoaffinity isolation of the lewis blood group antigens
Journal of Chromatography A, 1988Extraction, followed by immunoaffinity chromatography on a column of immobilized antibodies is described for the isolation of the Lewis blood group antigens. These affinity-isolated antigens are suitable in organ transplant immunology laboratories for screening potential donors and recipients for mismatch at the Lewis antigen loci.

The Lewis negative (Le a--b--) red blood cell phenotype was observed three times more frequently in 170 diabetics (29%) irrespective of their clinical type and in 27 non-diabetics low insulin responders to glucose than in 100 controls (10%). This difference could not be accounted for by factors influencing the serological typing ("ABH secretion and ABO

[Expression of Lewis carbohydrate antigen in human tumors].
Chirurgia italiana, 2002In this study we show, by immunoblotting, that Mab B3, a newly isolated monoclonal antibody, reacts with a variety of glycoproteins with different molecular weights expressed in gastric, pancreatic and colorectal cancers. The reactivity pattern differed in cancers arising in different tissues, though no correlation was observed with the ...

The Lewis antigens and secretor status.
The Japanese journal of antibiotics, 1980The coincidence of the presence of ABH active substances in the saliva of persons with those individuals who possess either LEWIS-d or LEWIS-b antigens on epithelial cells of their stomach tissues is examined in terms of the three-dimensional conformations of the oligosaccharide structures which form the ABH and LEWIS antigenic determinants.

Interaction of Perch Fucolectin with Lewis Antigens
Applied Biochemistry and Microbiology, 2004The interaction of fucolectin of perch Perca fluviatilis (PFL) with a set of Lewis antigens was studied by monitoring changes in its tryptophan fluorescence. PFL bound Lec (H type 1)-pentasaccharide (Ka = 6.6 × 103 М–1) and H type 6-trisaccharide (Ka = 2.5 × 103 М–1); bound, although less strongly, with Leb-hexasaccharide (Ka = 4.0 × 102 М–1); and ...

The biosynthetic pathways of the Lewis histo-blood type antigens, Lewis a (Le(a)) and Lewis b (Le(b)), in correlation with ABH antigen synthesis and the synthesis of sialyl Lewis antigens, sialyl Lewis a (sLe(a)) and sialy Lewis x (sLe(x)), known as tumor associated antigens are described based on the recent molecular biological studies.
