Immunocytochemical localization of Lewis blood group antigens in human salivary glands.

Journal of Histochemistry & Cytochemistry, 1994
We demonstrated the immunohistochemical distribution of Le-a and Le-b blood group antigens in human major and minor salivary glands at the ultrastructural level by applying a post-embedding immunogold staining method. In secretors' glands, a faint Le-a reactivity was found only in mucous droplets, whereas Le-b antigen was intensely stained in secretory

Lewis Blood Group Antigens in Urine Sediments from Patients with Urinary Bladder Carcinoma

Scandinavian Journal of Urology and Nephrology, 1987
Urine sediments from 20 patients with urinary bladder carcinoma, and from 11 healthy individuals were investigated for their content of Lea and Leb active glycolipids. The investigation was restricted to blood group phenotype Le (a-b+). All individuals exhibited both Lea- and Leb-active glycolipids.

Critical Increment of Lewis Blood Group Antigen in Serum by Cancer Found by Photothermal Immunoassay

Analytical Biochemistry, 1999
Lewis blood group antigen levels in human sera were assayed with a highly sensitive photothermal immunoassay which is based on laser-induced photothermal detection. Comparison of 32 colon cancer patients' sera and 34 healthy persons' sera showed that cancer patients' sera contained more Lewis antigens than healthy persons' sera.

Expression of blood group-related antigens ABH, Lewis A, Lewis B, Lewis X, Lewis Y, and CA 19-9 in pancreatic cancer cells in comparison with the patient's blood group type.

Cancer research, 1988
Blood group A, B, H, Le, Leb, Lex, and Ley antigenicity as well as the expression of CA 19-9 were examined in pancreatic cancer specimens from 30 patients, using monoclonal antibodies to the respective antigen and immunohistochemical techniques, and the findings were correlated with the blood group types (ABO and Lewis) of the individuals.

Deletion of antigens of the Lewis a/b blood group family in human prostatic carcinoma.

The American journal of pathology, 1988
The expression of antigens of the blood group Lewis a/b family were studied in a series of 42 prostatectomy specimens from patients with adenocarcinoma clinically confined to the prostate; 19 of these were later reclassified as pathologic Stage C.

Bombay, Lewis and Ii Blood Group Antigens on Human Erythrocytes

2009
Representatives of blood groups determined by carbohydrate antigens are Lewis, ABO, P, and Ii blood group systems. The synthetic pathway of carbohydrate antigens of ABO and Lewis blood groups is shown in Fig. 1. The type of a carbohydrate blood group antigen is determined by the genetic difference of the carbohydrate synthesized by glycosyltransferases

The chemistry and immunochemistry of blood group A, B, H, and Lewis antigens: Past, present and future

Glycoconjugate Journal, 2000
This article traces reseach on the chemistry and immunochemistry of blood group A, B, H, and Lewis antigens from early work on the identification of soluble sources of these antigens, through the elucidation of the structures of the carbohydrate epitopes responsible for these specificities, to recent work on exploring their possible use as cancer ...
