Human biomarker navigator

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
The Human Biomarker Navigator integrates the disease continuum, biomarker dynamics, cross‐organ biomarker networks, biomarker classification, and technology‐driven paradigms. It maps how biomarkers link multi‐system physiology and pathology across the nervous, respiratory, endocrine, circulatory, immune, digestive, urinary, reproductive, and ...

Neuropathology of Lewy body dementia: Lewy-related pathology, α-synuclein oligomers, and comorbid pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Neurodegeneration
Lewy body dementia is the second most common form of neurodegenerative dementia, following Alzheimer’s disease. This umbrella term encompasses dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) and Parkinson’s disease dementia (PDD).

Tau PET imaging in the Lewy body diseases

open access: yesJAMA Neurology, 2016
Importance The causes of cognitive impairment in dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) and Parkinson disease (PD) are multifactorial. Tau pathology is commonly observed at autopsy in DLB and PD dementia, but its contribution during life to these diseases is ...

Limbic Structural Alterations and Structural Covariance Across Prodromal Phenotypes and Early Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Non‐motor symptoms may precede motor diagnosis in Parkinson's disease (PD), but whether distinct prodromal phenotypes exhibit differential limbic structural alterations remains unclear. Purpose To investigate limbic structural alterations across prodromal PD phenotypes defined by rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (RBD) and ...

An iTRAQ-based proteomic analysis reveals dysregulation of neocortical synaptopodin in Lewy body dementias

open access: yesMolecular Brain, 2017
Lewy body dementias are the second most common cause of neurodegenerative dementia in the elderly after Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The two clinical subgroups of Lewy body dementias, namely, dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) and Parkinson’s disease dementia (

Vocal Fold Atrophy in Patients With Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
This is the first study to quantify vocal fold atrophy in patients with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (AD/ADRD) using endoscopic imaging. Compared with age‐matched controls, AD/ADRD patients showed significantly greater vocal fold bowing and reduced mucosal wave amplitude, while normalized glottal gap area did not differ.

Fulminant Lewy body disease

open access: yes, 2006
The clinical distinction between Parkinson's disease (PD) with dementia (PDD) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) is challenged by most neuropathological studies showing nearly identical changes in both conditions.
