A Characterization of Lexicographic Preferences [PDF]
This paper characterizes lexicographic preferences over alternatives that are identified by a finite number of attributes. Our characterization is based on two key concepts: a weaker notion of continuity called “mild continuity” (strict preference order between any two alternatives that are different with respect to every attribute is preserved around

Reverse lexicographic and lexicographic shifting [PDF]
A short new proof of the fact that all shifted complexes are fixed by reverse lexicographic shifting is given. A notion of lexicographic shifting, $Δ_{\lex}$ -- an operation that transforms a monomial ideal of $S=\field[x_i: i\in\N]$ that is finitely generated in each degree into a squarefree strongly stable ideal -- is defined and studied.

AbstractWe give a new construction showing how new orthomodular lattices can be built out of old ones by choosing any join dense subset of the given orthomodular lattice and putting a lexicographic orthogonality relation on the free monoid generated by this subset. This construction has relevance to the logic of an empirical science and, in particular,
