Exact solution of a mathematical model for human muscular motion

open access: yesExamples and Counterexamples
An ordinary differential equation (ODE) which models human muscular movement is considered. A functional form of the model parameter is specified through the Lie symmetry approach, yielding a different expression from the one derived in the previous ...

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

The Definition of Lie Derivative [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Edinburgh Mathematical Society, 1960
The differential operation known as Lie derivation was introduced by W. Slebodzinski in 1931, and since then it has been used by numerous investigators in applications in pure and applied mathematics and also in physics. A recent monograph by Kentaro Yano (2) devoted to the theory and application of Lie derivatives gives some idea of the wide range of ...

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

CENTRAL DERIVATIONS OF LIE ALGEBRAS

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica, 1985
This paper gives a number of simple results on various kinds of derivations. The terminology is at times a little obscure.

Nanoindentation Criteria for Combinatorial Thin Film Libraries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thin‐film material libraries are compositional spreads used for screening composition‐structure‐property relationships. Nanoindentation is often used to characterize mechanical behavior across these systems, however variations in methodology are widespread.

Nonlinear ξ-Bi-Skew Lie Triple Derivations on ∗-Algebras

open access: yesMathematics
Let A be a unital associative ∗-algebra over the complex field C containing a nontrivial projection and ξ be a nonzero scalar. In this paper, we give a characterization of ξ-bi-skew Lie triple derivation on A.

Four‐Point Bending Tests at High Temperatures on Commercial MgO‐C Refractory Bricks with and Without Recyclate Considering Different Carbon Contents

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...

Derivation of Asymptotic Dynamical Systems with Partial Lie Symmetry Groups

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2015
Lie group analysis has been applied to singular perturbation problems in both ordinary differential and difference equations and has allowed us to find the reduced dynamics describing the asymptotic behavior of the dynamical system.

Removing Oxide Layers and Retaining Oxide‐Free Steel Surfaces by Polishing in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the efficacy of wet mechanical polishing under an oxygen‐free atmosphere for deoxidation and the retention of an oxide‐free steel surface are elucidated using X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The methodology proved successful; however, the results were highly dependent on the preparation of the solvents used to clean the samples after ...
