SUMMARY: The life cycle in Sporocytophaga closely resembles that of the non-sporing eubacteria. The haploid microcyst germinates, the resulting cell containing two paired chromosomes reproducing vegetatively. An autogamous fusion and subsequent reduction division precede the maturation of the microcyst.
