Defining the role of extended saphenofemoral junction ligation: A prospective comparative study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Objective: This study explores the added effect of extended saphenofemoral junction (SFJ) ligation when the greater saphenous vein (GSV) has been eliminated from participating in thigh reflux by means of endovenous obliteration.

Multi-color fluorescent DNA analysis in an optofluidic chip [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Modulation-frequency-encoded fluorescence excitation enables the identification of end-labeled DNA samples of different genetic origin during their electrophoretic separation, opening perspectives for intrinsic size calibration, malign / healthy sample ...

3D Bioprinting of Thick Adipose Tissues with Integrated Vascular Hierarchies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
An advanced 3D bioprinting technique is used here to create thick adipose tissues with a central, vessel and extensive branching. The construct is made using alginate, gelatin and collagen‐based bioinks. Flow through the complex vessel network is demonstrated as well as its successful integration with a femoral artery following implantation in a rat ...

Time‐Controlled Dual Targeting to Program Systemic and Intercellular Transfer of Therapeutic Effects

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Aspirin‐liposomes loaded onto monocytes enable inflammation‐triggered targeting and efficient hand‐over of aspirin to inflamed cells. Monocytes uptake a significant portion of aspirin‐liposomes, prolonging therapeutic action. This approach enhances anti‐inflammatory effects through intercellular transfer, demonstrating a translational strategy for ...

Biologically‐Inspired Melt Electrowriting for the Generation of Highly Biomimetic Functional Myocardium

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, melt electrowriting is used to fabricate a 3D printed scaffold design that generates engineered cardiac tissues with in‐plane contraction, mimicking natural myocardium. It is shown that these tissues display advanced maturation and functionality.

Characterization of a temperature-sensitive DNA ligase from Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
DNA ligases are essential enzymes in cells due to their ability to join DNA strand breaks formed during DNA replication. Several temperature-sensitive mutant strains of Escherichia coli, including strain GR501, have been described which can be ...

Bioorthogonal Engineering of Cellular Microenvironments Using Isonitrile Ligations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Highly selective chemistries are required for fabrication and post‐cross–linking modification of cell‐encapsulating hydrogels used in tissue engineering applications. Isonitrile ligation reactions represent a promising class of bioorthogonal chemistries for engineering hydrogel‐based cellular microenvironments. Isonitrile‐based hydrogels are stable and

T Oligo-Primed Polymerase Chain Reaction (TOP-PCR): A Robust Method for the Amplification of Minute DNA Fragments in Body Fluids. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Body fluid DNA sequencing is a powerful noninvasive approach for the diagnosis of genetic defects, infectious agents and diseases. The success relies on the quantity and quality of the DNA samples.

Identification of a novel motif in DNA ligases exemplified by DNA ligase IV [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
DNA ligase IV is an essential protein that functions in DNA non-homologous end-joining, the major mechanism that rejoins DNA double-strand breaks in mammalian cells. LIG4 syndrome represents a human disorder caused by mutations in DNA ligase IV that lead
