Light‐induced degradation in copper‐contaminated gallium‐doped silicon [PDF]

open access: yesphysica status solidi (RRL) – Rapid Research Letters, 2013
AbstractTo date, gallium‐doped Czochralski (Cz) silicon has constituted a solar cell bulk material free of light‐induced degradation. However, we measure light‐induced degradation in gallium‐doped Cz silicon in the presence of copper impurities. The measured degradation depends on the copper concentration and the material resistivity.

Characterization of light induced degradation in crystalline silicon [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Light induced degradation is an unfortunate characteristic of a very commonly used silicon material for solar cells: boron-doped Czochralski silicon. The degradation is attributed to a recombination center that is activated by excess charge carriers, i.e. electrons, and the energy conversion efficiency of the affected cells is severely reduced.

Environmental Risk of Polymer and their Degradation Products [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Polymer-based materials are found everywhere in the environment, but their impacts are yet to be fully understood. The degradation of different polymer types has been extensively investigated under specific laboratory conditions.

Multiple kinases promote light-induced degradation of PIF1 [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Signaling & Behavior, 2011
Phytochrome (phy) family of photoreceptors is a broad sensor of environmental light signals that promote photomorphogenic development of plants. Phytochrome Interacting Factors (PIFs), bHLH family of transcription factors, repress photomorphogenesis in the dark in an overlapping manner.

Light-inducible protein degradation in E. coli with the LOVdeg tag

open access: yeseLife, 2023
Molecular tools for optogenetic control allow for spatial and temporal regulation of cell behavior. In particular, light-controlled protein degradation is a valuable mechanism of regulation because it can be highly modular, used in tandem with other control mechanisms, and maintain functionality throughout growth phases.

Light induced degradation of phorbol esters

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety, 2012
Jatropha curcas (Jatropha) is a tropical shrub that is gaining popularity as a biofuel feedstock plant. Phorbol esters (PEs) are tetracyclic tiglian diterpenoids that are present in Jatropha seeds and other parts of plant. Epidermal cell irritating and cancer promoting PEs not only reduce commercial values of Jatropha seed cake but also cause some ...

Eliminating Light-Induced Degradation in Commercial p-Type Czochralski Silicon Solar Cells

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2017
This paper discusses developments in the mitigation of light-induced degradation caused by boron-oxygen defects in boron-doped Czochralski grown silicon.

Review on the Sources of Power Loss in Monofacial and Bifacial Photovoltaic Technologies

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
An evaluation of the degradation effects on photovoltaic modules is essential to minimise uncertainties in the system operation. Bifacial photovoltaic technology is attracting attention due to the capacity of generating energy from the front and rear ...

Study on the Relationship between BO–LID and LeTID in Czochralski-Grown Monocrystalline Silicon

open access: yesEnergies, 2020
Most research about Light and elevated Temperature Induced Degradation (LeTID) is focused on multicrystalline silicon (mc-Si). In this work, the degradation kinetics of Czochralski-grown monocrystalline silicon (Cz-Si) induced by light at an elevated ...

Critical role of electrons in the short lifetime of blue OLEDs

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Designing robust blue organic light-emitting diodes is a long-standing challenge in the display industry. The highly energetic states of blue emitters cause various degradation paths, leading to collective luminance drops in a competitive manner. However,
