Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Notch signaling in cancer: metabolic reprogramming and therapeutic implications

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
The evolutionarily conserved Notch signaling pathway is essential for cell-fate determination, organogenesis, and tissue homeostasis. Notch receptors and their ligands are transmembrane proteins with epidermal growth factor–like repeats; ligand–receptor ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

PKCα and CPI-17 expression and spatial-temporal distribution with activation in pig stomach antrum and fundus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Smooth muscle contraction is a complicated process coordinated by contractile, regulatory and cytoskeletal proteins. The force generation depends on the phosphorylation of Myosin Regulatory Light Chain (MLC20). Myosin Light Chain Kinase (MLCK) and Myosin

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

High-intensity ultrasound of chicken myofibrillar protein under reduced-salt conditions: effect on emulsifying and interfacial properties

open access: yesFood Science of Animal Products
In this study, the effects of high-intensity ultrasound (HIU, frequency 20 kHz, amplitude 60%, power 450 W) for 0, 6, and 9 min on the emulsifying properties of chicken myofibrillar protein (MP) under different NaCl concentrations (0.2, 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5

Molecules with enhanced electronic polarizabilities based on defect-like states in conjugated polymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Highly conjugated organic polymers typically have large non-resonant electronic susceptibilities, which give the molecules unusual optical properties. To enhance these properties, defects are introduced into the polymer chain.

Shocks in non-loaded bead chains with impurities

open access: yes, 1999
We numerically investigate the problem of the propagation of a shock in an horizontal non-loaded granular chain with a bead interaction force exponent varying from unity to large values.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
