The practical application of fractal dimension in water treatment practice-the impact of polymer dosing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The application of floc fractal dimension has been investigated in this work to determine if this parameter can have operational significance in water treatment.

Rheology of buffalo milk rennet coagulation and gels affected by coagulation temperature, CaCl2, pH and milk heat treatment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The effects of coagulation temperature, CaCl2 concentrations, pH and heat treatment on the rennet coagulation time (RCT), setting time (ST), aggregation rate (AR) and gel firmness (GF) of buffalo milk were studied using dynamic small amplitude ...

Evaluation of coagulopathy on veno-arterial ECMO (VA) extracorporeal membrane oxygenation using platelet aggregometry and standard tests: A narrative review

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Critical Care Medicine, 2018
Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is an established therapy for patients with cardiac failure, pulmonary failure or cardiopulmonary failure. To suppress the activation of the coagulation cascade, anticoagulation is necessary.

Evaluation of the Uncertainties Caused by the Forward Scattering in Turbidity Measurement of the Coagulation Rate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The forward scattering light (FSL) received by the detector can cause uncertainties in turbidity measurement of the coagulation rate of colloidal dispersion, and this effect becomes more significant for large particles.

Recurrent vitreous hemorrhage secondary to retinal vessel avulsion

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2018
Spontaneous vitreous hemorrhage is a rare entity, present in 7 out of 100,000 inhabitants. It is associated with different pathologies; however, it is rarely reported to be caused by retinal vessel avulsion syndrome.

The effect of titanium dioxide particles of different shapes and sizes on the factor XII protein (intrinsic coagulation pathway)

open access: yesMedicine Science, 2021
Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles are widely used in food, cosmetics, biomedical implants, and pharmaceutical fields. Their effect on blood coagulation in human plasma and blood have been demonstrated.

Papaya seed extract as coagulant for potable water treatment in the case of Tulte River for the community of Yekuset district, Ethiopia

open access: yesEnvironmental Challenges, 2021
The high cost of chemical coagulants for water treatment makes most people in rural community to resort to readily available surface water which are usually of low quality exposing them to different water-borne diseases.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

A portable NIR device for the optical supervision of milk coagulation process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The coagulation of milk is the fundamental process in cheese-making, based on a gel formation as consequence of physicochemical changes taking place in the casein micelles, the monitoring the whole process of milk curd formation is a constant ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.
