Light-curve classification in massive variability surveys -- I. Microlensing [PDF]
This paper exploits neural networks to provide a fast and automatic way to classify light curves in massive photometric data sets. As an example, we provide a working neural network that can distinguish microlensing light curves from other forms of variability, such as eruptive, pulsating, cataclysmic and eclipsing variable stars.

Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

The Impact of Host-galaxy Properties on Supernova Classification with Hierarchical Labels
With the advent of the Vera C. Rubin Observatory, the discovery rate of supernovae (SNe) will surpass the rate of SNe with real time spectroscopic follow-up by 3 orders of magnitude.

We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

An Evenly Spaced LSST Cadence for Rapidly Variable Stars
Stars exhibit a bewildering variety of rapidly variable behaviors ranging from explosive magnetic flares to stochastically changing accretion to periodic pulsations or rotation.

Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Machine learning methods for fission product identification from Bragg curves
A fission time projection chamber (fission-TPC) was developed to provide precise neutron-induced fission measurements for several major actinides. As fission fragments lose energy in one of the gas volumes of the fission-TPC, energy loss information is ...

Automatic classification of eclipsing binaries light curves using neural networks
In this work we present a system for the automatic classification of the light curves of eclipsing binaries. This system is based on a classification scheme that aims to separate eclipsing binary systems according to their geometrical configuration in

Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

General classification of light curves using extreme boosting
A significant degree of misclassification of variable stars through the application of machine learning methods to survey data motivates a search for more reliable and accurate machine learning procedures, especially in light of the very large data cubes that will be generated by future surveys and the need for immediate production of accurate ...
