PELICAN: deeP architecturE for the LIght Curve ANalysis

open access: yes, 2019
[Departement_IRSTEA]Territoires [TR1_IRSTEA]SYNERGIEInternational audienceWe developed a deeP architecturE for the LIght Curve ANalysis (PELICAN) for the characterization and the classification of light curves. It takes light curves as input, without any

Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.

Unsupervised classification of eclipsing binary light curves throughk-medoids clustering [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Statistics, 2019
This paper proposes k-medoids clustering method to reveal the distinct groups of 1,318 variable stars in the Galaxy based on their light curves, where each light curve represents the graph of brightness of the star against time. To overcome the deficiencies of subjective traditional classification, we separate the stars more scientifically according to

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Discovery and Detailed Study of the M31 Classical Nova AT 2023tkw: Evidence for Internal Shocks

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present a detailed analysis of an extragalactic slow classical nova in M31 exhibiting multiple peaks in its light curve. Spectroscopic and photometric observations were used to investigate the underlying physical processes.

Sparse Logistic Regression for RR Lyrae versus Binaries Classification

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
RR Lyrae (RRL) stars are old, low-mass, radially pulsating variable stars in their core helium burning phase. They are popular stellar tracers and primary distance indicators since they obey well-defined period–luminosity relations in the near-infrared ...

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

THE MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF THE PHOTOMETRIC VARIABILITY AND CLASSIFICATION OF SEMIREGULAR PULSATING ASYMPTOTIC GIANTS BRANCH STARS

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2012
The modern review of the stars which are located at the position of asymptotic giant branch at the HRdiagram is presented. The most interesting problems connected to these objects are noted, as well as attention is paid to classification and to the ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
