Lightness scale from image intensity distributions [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Optics, 1982
A lightness scale is derived from a theoretical estimate of the probability distribution of image intensities for natural scenes. The derived image intensity distribution considers three factors: reflectance; surface orientation and illumination; and surface texture (or roughness).

Transverse momentum distributions and nuclear effects

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2015
A distorted spin-dependent spectral function for 3He is considered to take care of the final state interaction in the extraction of the quark transverse-momentum distributions in the neutron from semi-inclusive deep inelastic electron scattering off ...

Photon Generalized Parton Distributions

open access: yes, 2011
We present a calculation of the generalized parton distributions of the photon using overlaps of photon light-front wave functions.Comment: Talk given at LightCone 2011, 4 pages, 3 ...

Implication of the overlap representation for modelling generalized parton distributions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Based on a field theoretically inspired model of light-cone wave functions, we derive valence-like generalized parton distributions and their double distributions from the wave function overlap in the parton number conserved s-channel.

Effects of Drought, Pest Pressure and Light Availability on Seedling Establishment and Growth: Their Role for Distribution of Tree Species across a Tropical Rainfall Gradient. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Tree species distributions associated with rainfall are among the most prominent patterns in tropical forests. Understanding the mechanisms shaping these patterns is important to project impacts of global climate change on tree distributions and ...

The Quark Spin Distributions of the Nucleon

open access: yes, 1998
The quark helicity measured in polarized deep inelastic scattering is different from the quark spin in the rest frame of the nucleon. We point out that the quark spin distributions $\Delta q_{RF}(x)$ are connected with the quark helicity distributions ...

Improved approximation of spatial light distribution

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2017
The rapid worldwide evolution of LEDs as light sources has brought new challenges, which means that new methods are needed and new algorithms have to be developed. Since the majority of LED luminaries are of the multi-source type, established methods for the design of light engines cannot be used in the design of LED light engines.

Laser light polarization plastic visualizer: light scattering distribution and anisotropy

open access: yesRSC Advances, 2013
A laser light polarization visualizer (LPV) is obtainable by the photopolymerization of a multi-acrylate monomer, initiated by diketones under a single beam nano-pulsed (lambda = 532 nm) laser light. The derived light scattering distribution and polymer anisotropy are dependent on the polarization state of the incident-polymerizing beam.

Extreme value distributions for dependent jointly ln,p-symmetrically distributed random variables

open access: yesDependence Modeling, 2016
A measure-of-cone representation of skewed continuous ln,p-symmetric distributions, n ∈ N, p > 0, is proved following the geometric approach known for elliptically contoured distributions.

Cosmic ray tests of the D0 preshower detector

open access: yes, 2000
The D0 preshower detector consists of scintillator strips with embedded wavelength-shifting fibers, and a readout using Visible Light Photon Counters. The response to minimum ionizing particles has been tested with cosmic ray muons.
