Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Multi-Shot Single Sensor Light Field Camera Using a Color Coded Mask

open access: yes, 2018
International audienceWe present a compressed sensing framework for reconstructing the full light field of a scene captured using a single-sensor consumer camera. To achieve this, we use a color coded mask in front of the camera sensor.

Quantitative determination of in-plane optical anisotropy by surface plasmon resonance holographic microscopy

open access: yesLight: Science & Applications
Quantitative determination of in-plane optical anisotropy is essential in finding or designing anisotropic low-dimensional materials and investigating their physical properties.

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,

Advanced Scalability for Light Field Image Coding

open access: yes, 2022
International audienceLight field imaging, which captures both spatial and angular information, improves user immersion by enabling post-capture actions, such as refocusing and changing view perspective. However, light fields represent very large volumes

On-demand tailoring soliton patterns through intracavity spectral phase programming

open access: yesNature Communications
Multi-pulse oscillations are prevalent phenomena observed in mode-locked lasers and nonlinear microresonators, where the short- and long-range interactions between nonlinear wavepackets give rise to diverse pulse patterns such as soliton molecules ...

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...

Light-induced states in the transient-absorption spectrum of a periodically pumped strong-field-excited system

open access: yes, 2018
The transient-absorption spectrum of a $V$-type three-level system is investigated, when this is periodically excited by a train of equally spaced, $\delta$-like pump pulses as, e.g., from an optical-frequency-comb laser.
