Compressive Light Field Displays
IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications, 2012Light fields are the multiview extension of stereo image pairs: a collection of images showing a 3D scene from slightly different perspectives. Depicting high-resolution light fields usually requires an excessively large display bandwidth; compressive light field displays are enabled by the codesign of optical elements and computational-processing ...

We propose near-eye light field displays that enable thin, lightweight head-mounted displays (HMDs) capable of presenting nearly correct convergence, accommodation, binocular disparity, and retinal defocus depth cues. Sharp images are depicted by out-of-focus elements by synthesizing light fields corresponding to virtual objects within a viewer's ...

Light field display simulation for light field quality assessment
SPIE Proceedings, 2015We introduce our light field display simulation software that simulates the image observed by a viewer looking at a full parallax light field display. The simulation software uses the display parameters, viewer location and orientation, viewer pupil size and focus location to simulate the image observed by the viewer.

An interactive 360° light field display
ACM SIGGRAPH 2007 emerging technologies, 2007While a great deal of computer generated imagery is modeled and rendered in 3D, the vast majority of this 3D imagery is shown on 2D displays. Various forms of 3D displays have been contemplated and constructed for at least one hundred years [Lippman 1908], but only recent evolutions in digital capture, computation, and display have made functional and ...

Moving Slit Light Field Display
ACM SIGGRAPH 2010 Posters, 2010This paper describes the design of a parallax based Moving Slit Light Field Display (MSLFD). A MSLFD shows multi parallax images, by using vertical slits in an opaque cylinder surrounding multiple static flat panel displays. It allows viewers looking towards the cylinder to see an image from any position.

3D touchable holographic light-field display
Applied Optics, 2016We propose a new type of 3D user interface: interaction with a light field reproduced by a 3D display. The 3D display used in this work reproduces a 3D light field, and a real image can be reproduced in midair between the display and the user. When using a finger to touch the real image, the light field from the display will scatter. Then, the 3D touch

Light-field displays and light-field optics
2016 15th Workshop on Information Optics (WIO), 2016Light-field optics is a novel system in which image is exchangeable in between 2D (light-field data) and real 3D, although this technology is well known just for refocusing ...
