Investigation of the energy dependence of the orbital light curve in LS 5039

open access: yes, 2016
LS 5039 is so far the best studied $\gamma$-ray binary system at multi-wavelength energies. A time resolved study of its spectral energy distribution (SED) shows that above 1 keV its power output is changing along its binary orbit as well as being a ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Multimodal Mechanical Testing of Additively Manufactured Ti6Al4V Lattice Structures: Compression, Bending, and Fatigue

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this experimental study, the mechanical properties of additively manufactured Ti‐6Al‐4V lattice structures of different geometries are characterized using compression, four point bending and fatigue testing. While TPMS designs show superior fatigue resistance, SplitP and Honeycomb lattice structures combine high stiffness and strength. The resulting

Acute Effect of Alternating Heavy and Light Resistances on Power Output During Upper-Body Complex Power Training

open access: yesJournal of Strength and Conditioning Research, 2003
This study investigated the effect on upper-body power output of manipulating resistances during contrast or complex power training. This power-training strategy typically entails the athlete alternating sets of a heavy resistance in a strength-oriented exercise with sets of lighter resistances in a power-oriented exercise. Sixteen rugby league players,
