Integration of Horizontal Light Pipe and Shading Systems in Office Building in the Tropics

open access: yesJournal of Applied Science and Engineering, 2021
Many high-rise office buildings in the tropics have a full-glazed façade and a deep open-plan space. Without any external shading, the office space has a non-uniform daylight distribution and glare problem.

Mining Security Pipe© (TSM)© with Underground GPS Global© (RSPG)© Escape Security Device in Underground Mining [PDF]

open access: yesManagement Systems in Production Engineering, 2016
TSM is escape pipe in case of collapse of terrain. The TSM is a passive security tool placed underground to connect the work area with secure area (mining gallery mainly).

Predicting the Instability Trajectory of an Obliquely Loaded Pipeline on a Clayey Seabed

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2022
Predicting the instability trajectory of an obliquely loaded pipeline on the seabed is vital for the global buckling assessment. To numerically investigate the obliquely loaded pipe–soil interactions, a plane strain elastoplastic finite element model ...

A Simultaneous Pipe-Attribute and PIG-Pose Estimation (SPPE) Using 3-D Point Cloud in Compressible Gas Pipelines

open access: yesSensors, 2023
An accurate estimation of pipe attributes, pose of pipeline inspection gauge (PIG), and downstream pipeline topology is essential for successful in-line inspection (ILI) of underground compressible gas pipelines.

Light Pipes: A Light Controlled Midi Instrument

open access: yes, 2004
In this paper, we describe a new MIDI controller, the LightPipes. The Light Pipes are a series of pipes that respond toincident light. The paper will discuss the design of theinstrument, and the prototype we built. A piece was composedfor the instrument using algorithms designed in Pure Data.

Daylight Utilization with Light Pipe in Farm Animal Production: A Simulation Approach

open access: yesJournal of Daylighting, 2016
Light pipes offer a passive way to bring daylight inside deep buildings, such as agricultural buildings. However, the lack of reliable performance predictability methods for light pipes represents a major obstacle preventing their widespread use.

Light Pipe Comparative Measurement [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 21st International Conference LIGHT SVĚTLO 2015, 2015
The illuminance measurement method for a comparative evaluation of two light pipes is described in the paper. Two commercially available light pipes of similar dimensions were evaluated for light transmittance. Measurement and data processing methodology was completed for the comparison of the light pipe efficiency.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.
