Propagation of partially coherent light through a light pipe

open access: yesOptics Express, 2013
In laser projection applications, laser light modules are often combined with rotating diffusers in order to reduce the appearance of speckle on the projection screen. The rotation of a diffuser in a laser beam generates a beam of partially coherent light.

Daylight Utilization with Light Pipe in Farm Animal Production: A Simulation Approach

open access: yesJournal of Daylighting, 2016
Light pipes offer a passive way to bring daylight inside deep buildings, such as agricultural buildings. However, the lack of reliable performance predictability methods for light pipes represents a major obstacle preventing their widespread use.

Toroidal mirrors provide virtual walls for breaks in light pipes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
Section of light pipe consists of separated segments having opposed toroidal mirrors that intercept meridional rays to present virtual wall in space between mirrors, thus insuring uninterrupted light transmission down the pipe.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Laser action generated within a light pipe: A concept [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Laser light could be generated within light pipe itself, thereby eliminating coupling losses. Theoretical calculations have shown feasibility of light-pipe laser propagating in circularly-polarized TE mode.

The photon-ion merged-beams experiment PIPE at PETRAIII - The first five years

open access: yes, 2018
The Photon-Ion Spectrometer at PETRA III - in short, PIPE - is a permanently installed user facility at the "Variable Polarization XUV Beamline" P04 of the synchrotron light source PETRA III operated by DESY in Hamburg, Germany. The careful design of the

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Light Pipes: A Light Controlled Midi Instrument

open access: yes, 2004
In this paper, we describe a new MIDI controller, the LightPipes. The Light Pipes are a series of pipes that respond toincident light. The paper will discuss the design of theinstrument, and the prototype we built. A piece was composedfor the instrument using algorithms designed in Pure Data.

Anchorage‐independent and faster growth in clonal population from UV‐irradiated NER‐deficient cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UV‐irradiated cells expressing a DDB2 mutant protein unable to interact with PCNA (DDB2PCNA‐) form clones able to grow without anchorage. Different experimental approaches reveal heterogeneity in cell cycle regulation and drug response within these clones, emphasizing the crucial role of the DDB2‐PCNA interaction in preventing cellular transformation ...
