Optimizing the Design of Light Pipe Systems and Collaborative Control Strategy Using Artificial-Lighting Systems for Indoor Sports Venues

open access: yesBuildings
Lighting systems in sports venues have a significant impact on both the user experience and quality of events. However, owing to the large number of luminaires, high individual lamp power, and strict lighting standards, the lighting energy consumption of

Exploiting Two‐Photon Lithography, Deposition, and Processing to Realize Complex 3D Magnetic Nanostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two‐photon lithography (TPL) enables 3D magnetic nanostructures with unmatched freedom in geometry and material choice. Advances in voxel control, deposition, and functionalization open pathways to artificial spin ices, racetracks, microrobots, and a number of additional technological applications.

Propagation of partially coherent light through a light pipe

open access: yesOptics Express, 2013
In laser projection applications, laser light modules are often combined with rotating diffusers in order to reduce the appearance of speckle on the projection screen. The rotation of a diffuser in a laser beam generates a beam of partially coherent light.

Ferritin‐Doped Nanoparticles Triggered Tumor‐Specific Darkening for Enhanced Photothermal Tumor Ablation and Immune Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Ferritin‐doped hybrid nanoparticles triggered accurate tumor‐specific hemorrhage for enhanced in situ photothermal therapy and evoked anti‐tumor immunity. Notably, HFn/GA‐Fe specifically induced tumor hemorrhage 12 h after intravenous injection, resulting in visible color darkening. Through photoacoustic imaging, tumor vessels could be clearly observed

USAGE OF DARK-FIELD IMAGE FOR IDENTIFICATION OF PHASE COMPONENTS OF PIPE STEELS

open access: yesЛитьë и металлургия, 2012
The reasons of low impact strength and high temperature of viscous-fragile transition of the basic metal of gas pipe from steel 17G1С are investigated. It is established that high fragility of metal of pipe is caused by release of the cementite extended ...

Diffused guides for distributed-feedback lasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Proposed waveguide is hollow cylindrical pipe. Inside channel surface is infused with gas or metal molecules, forming periodic cross sections along entire length. Light is scattered at periodic infusions, resulting in distributed feedback.

Potential for using climate forecasts in spatio-temporal prediction of dengue fever incidence in Malaysia submitted [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Dengue fever is a viral infection transmitted by the bite of female Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. It is estimated that nearly 40% of the world’s population is now at risk from Dengue in over 100 endemic countries including Malaysia.

PiP‐Plex: A Particle‐in‐Particle System for Multiplexed Quantification of Proteins Secreted by Single Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Detecting proteins secreted by a single cell while retaining its viability remains challenging. A particles‐in‐particle (PiPs) system made by co‐encapsulating barcoded microparticles (BMPs) with a single cell inside an alginate hydrogel particle is introduced.
