II. On the lighting spectrum [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society of London
Abstract I have had two or three opportunities of seeing this spectrum to advantage of late. The storms at the period of the setting in of the south-west monsoon here are very frequent, and supply for a time almost incessant flashes, many of which are of course very brilliant.

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

The spectrum of static-light baryons in twisted mass lattice QCD

open access: yes, 2010
We compute the static-light baryon spectrum with Nf = 2 flavors of sea quarks using Wilson twisted mass lattice QCD. As light valence quarks we consider quarks, which have the same mass as the sea quarks with corresponding pion masses in the range ...

Behavior of propagating and evanescent components in azimuthally polarized non-paraxial fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The contribution of the propagating and the evanescent waves associated with freely propagating non-paraxial light fields whose transverse component is azimuthally polarized at some plane is investigated.

Optimising Light Source Spectrum For Object Reflectance

open access: yesLight, Energy and the Environment, 2014
Much light in architectural spaces is absorbed by objects and never perceived by occupants. The colour appearance of objects illuminated by light spectra that minimized this absorption was determined. Colour differences were calculated for 15 reflective samples when illuminated by various coloured test light sources and reference white illuminants ...

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

The invisible ideology of white light [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper explores the role of white light in film history. It argues that, though we live our lives immersed in ‘white’ daylight, the historical hegemony of white light within moving images has been far from inevitable.

Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

Ken Wilber's Spectrum Model: Identifying Alternative Soteriological Perspectives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
I identify two problematic strands of Wilber's transpersonal theory. First, I question Wilber's claim that his spectrum model is supported by the materials of all the world's major mystical traditions.
